I survived...

Though it was tough today.   I stayed up too late last night, which made me extra emotional and borderline weepy.   But I charged myself up, went over to my son's home.   Got to hold my granddaughter while they opened the gifts.    My gifts to them went over great (wine, movie certificate, free babysitting, lol)!   My granddaughter who turns 5 months old on Thursday is growing stronger daily - today I got giggles, smiles, stares at my glasses and hair pulling.   Yep, lol, I know that my glasses are gonna be toast next - I made sure she got a rattle to play with, lol.  And then I got THE BEST gift.   An 8X10 photo of my granddaughter in a gorgeous frame, and an envelope FILLED with pictures ranging from the birth to today.  Which is extra special to me because I wasn't able to attend the birth or their wedding due to those issues involving my x.      And then I watched as my son crawled onto the floor to play with his daughter - no easy effort since my son is 6'5" and about 300 pounds.   We had to get more pictures.  It was so wonderful to see him cooing at his daughter and to listen to her giggle back at him in response.
After about 2 hours, my weepiness started coming, so I made the excuse of having to get back to the dogs I'm sitting for.   Hugs all around, tears on the way home.   Then calls to the family - over the phone "hugs" from my aunt, my grandmother (yep, we have 5 generations living right now), and my parents (who, by the way, announced they are coming to visit in July!)   Yep, a much better Christmas today.
