I Spoke Too Soon!

Yesterday, I was bragging about how good my son was doing in getting to school on time. Well, pride comes before a fall! Today I know he had fallen back asleep when I asked if he was almost ready to leave, just by how he answered me. I'd told him he'd better be downstairs at a certain time, or I was leaving! (I even gave a little leeway as well.) What do I get in response? Swearing, name-calling, etc. Boy, that really endears me to him! (*sarcasm*) Finally, I did leave at the latest time I could; I was not going to make my daughter late.

Then I came back & brought him to school. That took up most of my morning & believe me, I didn't like making 2 trips any more than he liked being late. But I was thinking: it's my job to get him to school, but it's his job to get to school on time. That kept me calm (still angry, but calm).
I had told him before I left that if he couldn't get downstairs, he was not going to youth group tonight. Tonight is the start of the fall schedule, too. I really don't like for him to miss it, because it's good for him. But I refuse to reward his irresponsibility.

On a separate note, we had our anniversary dinner last night. It was yummy & we ate way too much. I spent most of the evening battling a crab (trying to get the meat out!), much to both our amusements.
