I resolved my Good Help issue.
Last week I wrote about finding good help for a landscaping project on the children's playground.
I know I didn't win any popularity contests but when the ex contractor came at eight and left at two I said that wasn't a full days work and gave him 80% pay, and explained I have a time line and a budget and I can't just pay $100 a day for limited work which three hours were walking around Home depot. He was unhappy.
The next day eight o'clock rolled around and he wasn't here and he wasn't answering his home number or his cell. I had to practically drag my son with me but he complied and we went to Home Depot where men stand available to work for day wages.
The contractor finally called back just as we arrived. He was upset that I would go hire others and said he needed to shower and to give him 30 minutes. I started to pull away upset myself that he called back just in time but knowing he was unhappy and didn't feel he would do a good job and overcharge me and take too long in the process. Fortunately he called again within seconds and told my son to have me hire someone else.
Two men came at my request and estimated the job a little higher than in my budget but we compromised on a price that was fair to both of us. They THANKED me. for the opportunity to work and I made them a gormet lunch with all the lemonade and tea they wanted.
They did a great job! The other guy is mad, and it was a hard decision to make but I'm glad I made it because the kids deserve a great playground and I deserve to have it done efficiently and with an attitude of gratitude rather than scorn.

Way to go Cindy. It\'s time that the meek stand up for themselves and not get the old runaround. I\'m proud of you.
GOOD FOR YOU! Proud of you, too!
Hugs, Rach
