I remember

I first got gas at .29 a gallon.My first pack of smokes was .15 (Luckys)We played pinochle for nickles and the cop was one of our players.My three DWI's were all tickets less than $100.I could drink at 18 yrs old. (16 if I was a 'working man').I started driving when I was 14 (farm truck).I was using dynamite to clear farm land and no one looked at me funny when I bought a case.I wore a .38 revolver on my hip and no one ever seemed to notice.Taxes were low. The government wasn't stealing it from me to give to slobs that didn't even try to work.Church was on Sunday and you went to Hell if you didn't go.Boy Scouts were very honorable and respected.The military was full of heroes.Butter was a good thing.Bacon was good for you.We worked hard and our bosses treated us like people.Teachers taught us the truth and not some horsecrap about global warming and evolution (now they're a bunch of heretics and blasphemers).Competition was a good thing and winners were kind to the losers and helped them get better.No one got thrown in jail for fist fighting or whistling at a pretty girl.Everyone had a pocket knife.Socialists were evil.Communists were worse.Terrorists were put to death, not given rights and free lawyers.Everyone said the pledge of allegiance and bowed their head in prayer even if they didn't believe (cause we'd kick their ass if they didn't).
