I never know the right thing to to....
This has been an interesting week to say the least. I have not really been in the Christmas spirit but I learned this week the scumbag that my ex ran off with, my former best friend had been steeling more than just my girlfriend. I got a call from his wife asking if I was interested in getting back some stuff he had taken over the years from my company while employed here. I asked what she was talking about and she informaed me that he accumulated alot of my tools and material and if I wanted it... I was welcome to it. Not knowing the extent of the items, I asked the local Sheriff's office to go with me because I didn;t want to get blamed for anything and discovered, table saws, power miter boxes, hydraulic punch kits, ladders, large circulating fans for construction sites and countless boxes of raw electrical materials. The Sheriff and my brother, a retired police officer, both said while its incredible, forget about further aggrevating myself and forget having him arrested. Just get my stuff back and get the hell out of there. I am not sure what to do but I will be getting the stuff back Monday or Tuesday. I also found out that he was scrapping thousands of dollars of copper wire, none of which was his.... The problem there is that the scrap yards all pay in cash!
On a second note, I also am struggling with the idea of getting my ex's son a Christmas gift or not. If I did, I would simply give it to his grandmother to drop off from Santa and keep my name out of it. I love this young man as if he was my own and to not do something for him this Christmas would kill me inside. I do NOT want to see or hear from his mom (the ex) but he didn't do anything to me and I miss him so.
I am just venting a bit and taking one day at a time.... I continue to heal but really have to fight off thoughts of them all the time.

Wow, it just keeps getting better don\'t it?
I\'m so sorry dear. I wish it didn\'t have to get worse before it got better. (hugs)
Thank you so much for helping encourage me. I hate this feeling of having been used...
Jim, I am so sorry for this additional salt in the wound! What an unbelievable way to treat a \"friend\". It sounds as though there is no end to the depths to which this guy can sink. What an incredible \"user\" he is.
Please don\'t berate yourself for having been the nice guy and not seen what he was up to. It just shows to what extent you are a decent guy, and you don\'t look for the bad in people.
You may have to learn a little more self protective awareness over time. So you don\'t get quite so used ever again.
As far as a gift for Matt is concerned. If you have really strong feelings about wanting to do it for him, why not go ahead and do it the way you said, by doing it without him knowing who it was from. As you say, he has asked for none of this. So if it is going to make you feel better about him and Christmas then I don\'t see why not, if his gran can keep a secret.
As long as it is not going to open up the wound in you again at all. You don\'t need any additional setback.
((hug))
I often wonder where I would be without my friends here! You mean the world to me!
