I made a new friend (girlfriend, that is)...

Things are getting better!   I'm feeling more confident, ready to explore my new life!

I made a new friend through my work - she's a customer.   She got divorced 3 years ago, still struggles with the emotions that come with divorce.   She started talking to me about how she can't figure out how to move forward.   So we began to talk about small stuff, like how I exercise to clear my thoughts, and like how I'm embracing the newness of all this as if it's the beginning of a new adventure.

She only comes in to the office about once a month, and yesterday, came in happy - she's been finally moving forward!  She's severely overweight, had the bypass surgery and because of her emotions slipped up with the food recently, but she said after talking last time, she regrouped, restarted and like me lost 12 pounds in the past 3 weeks!

So now, when she stops in, it's going to be to talk about our progress, to support each other.   I'm glad I've got someone to do this with.

Oh, and I goofed.... the bike race opened registration on April 1st at 7:30 for 600 spots.   Last year, it sold out in 3 months, so I decided to wait until I got my paycheck on Thursday to pay for it.   BAD IDEA.   It was sold out in 3 hours!   Yep, I'm disappointed... but then again, I realize that I may have used this goal as a means to fail.   So maybe this is a good thing.   This way, I can still train (friends and I are going to do it the weekend before when the forest is filled with people practicing) and I'm going to use this time to focus on what I NEED to do to recover emotionally.   Yep, this is much better... and I'll be ready for next year, lol.

LATER!

You do sound so much better and you have a new friend that you have helped. Having an in person friend to talk to is always good and you can support each other.

You are handling your \"goof\" and turning it into a positive instead of a negative. Next year you will definitely be ready for that bike race and with another year of working towards that goal I know you will do well.

You sound great! It is always nice to make a new friend, one with the same goals. And you have a great attitude about missing the registration slot. Wish you the best!
