\"I\'m trying to feel better\"

All I think about is the future, which does not look very bright for me.  I trust God and his promises, but I'm afraid if my mother dies I'm going to be left alone.  As you all know I'm disabled and with what I make is barely impossible to make it now days.  What am I gonna do?  Right now I'm leaving with my mom and my son(he doesn't contribute anything for house expenses)  I have a low income apt., but it is in a very lousy neighborhood, they are always stealing cars, entering the apts.etc...  My problem is that when my mother dies, I hope she never does, I'm going to be left with the taxes to pay, at least half of the taxes, because one of my sisters lives on the back.  I just don't think this is fair, because she makes a lot of money and I don't.  Most of my anxiety and depression have to do with this problem.  Any suggestions?

I guess I am somewhat confused. I think you are saying that you live in a low income or section 8 house that has apartments. Your sister lives in the back apartment. I dont understand why there would be taxes to pay if your mother dies. Forgive me, I guess I am just not on the same page.

I understand that you have limited income and it would make it difficult to pay anything. Because of that, you feel your sister should pay it all? I guess I struggle with that a little. You have a son that is \"free loading\" off of you and not contributing his share. Maybe if he did, you would be able to pay your portion. Your sister may feel \"used\" under those circumstances just because she has a job and makes money. I am not sure that would be fair to her. Just as it isnt fair that you are paying all the bills and your son doesnt help you. It is kind of a catch 22. Maybe if you know there is a possibility that you may have to pay out some money at some time, you could set aside small amounts now in case that happens. You could also ask your mother to set aside small amounts.

If you are talking about property taxes that would have to be paid while you live in the house, then absolutely, I think that is your responsibility and you should make your son share that responsibility. Your sister is not responsible for your debt unless she chooses to be. But, she should not be forced into it through guilt.

I hope I havent been too blunt, but you asked and I thought I should share honestly how I feel. If I got your explanation correct, forgive me if I didnt. Hugs

Honey, I also understand your fear of being alone. But worrying about that now is only making it worse for you by causing anxiety that isnt necessary. That time may not come for a long time.

I think it is important not to let your fear of being alone cause you to allow your son to get away with things that are not fair to you. He needs to be working and helping you. It isnt your responsibility to do it all yourself. The only way you will teach him that is to set boundaries and tell him, in order to live there, he has to do his fair share. He has to contribute financially. I have a friend who is still supporting her 50 year old son on her disability because he is lazy and wont work. That would not be good for either of you.

As for your mom, I think you should enjoy the time you have with her and focus on that. Dont fill that time with unnecessary worry. Make this time count. Hugs
