I'm new to this
About a month ago I had a total thyroidectomy. I was told I had hyperthyroidism and was later diagnosed with Graves Disease. My endocrinologist led me to believe that after my surgery I would be "fixed." I can assure you that I'm not. I feel worse now than before my surgery. I have ZERO energy, my hair is falling out, I'm gaining a lot of weight, and I feel like I'm slipping into a depression. I feel completely alone because my boyfriend, my friends, and my family just don't understand and i know they have to be tired of hearing me talk about it. I also feel like my endocrinologist has been no help and just kind of shrugs off what I tell him.

I know exactly how you feel, was diagnosed with Graves, and since being medicated, went the opposite way gained 20 lbs in a matter of 1.5 months, then took me off medication and in one week my numbers were back up. Still battling the rapid heartbeat and all the other awful symptoms. I had thought about hav8 get it removed, but you say you feel no btter?
Before I had it removed my endocrinologist put me on tapazol and blood pressure medication because of my rapid heart beat and everything. The tapazol helped to even out my levels enough so I could get it removed. He told me that gaining weight is normal because it's a sign that my thyroid is slowing down. I was told by my doctor that having it removed was my only option because all the medications were just a temporary fix. But now that it's removed I feel awful. I mean i have no energy, no motivation, I'm gaining so much weight....im just miserable
