I\'m kinda proud of myself
About that time again (update the journal). We've been going through a very hectic, sad, and emotional time at work. Since I started there in December; the hospital closed in January, and the nursing home closes next week. We are a small rural community, and many of the nurses have been at these facilities since they qualified - some nearly 30 years!! During the more recent process, I, along with others, have had a lot of contact with people in the government departments at various levels, accreditation services, licencing agents etc. I have received several phone calls over the last few days from these people, specifically to pass on to me their thoughts and thanks for the good job I'm doing and support I have provided to the staff and residents. I have even been told that the staff and residents have been lucky to have me........ so I'm pretty rapt. And I've had a few staff and volunteers thank me for the letters I have sent them, thanking them for their contribution. Considering 18 months ago I was stuck at home suffering severe depression and uncontrolled pain due to fibro - I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. I have been on a massive learning curve since I've been here and it's nice to know that I've made a positive difference, especially during a time of stress. Those of you who know me, know I've been pushing myself these last few weeks and not taking my Wednesdays off - and it's been catching up with me - but those little phone calls have helped me keep pushing - knowing I'm making a difference. Well, I'll stop patting myself on the back now, lol. We had a great farewell afternoon tea for the residents, families, volunteers and staff this afternoon - it was sad but everyone was great, there were hardly any tears - more of a celebration. The big days will be Wed & Thurs when the residents move out - and Saturday when the staff have a big final farewell.I am still tired and sore, but my motivation is high. Clint was down for the weekend and we did a bit of gardening - actually weeding - and a lot of resting. Well - off to bed for me. Take care friends.
