I\'m feeling peaceful
As much as I dreaded our divorce being final, I think after all I've been through, now that I know "the end is near," I'm actually feeling very peaceful about it. When the stbx and I started counseling seven months ago, I'd felt good and strong. But honestly, in the last two months, I found my stress level going up and also me starting to doubt myself again. Perhaps my stbx being such a jerk this past month has really opened my eyes and I was finally able to say "enough." I think he needs to make me the "bad guy" to justify the divorce. The worse he treats me, the more he convinces himself he's right to end our marriage. Frankly, that's fine with me. I don't need to be treated this way--i deserve better! While I in NO WAY wanted this divorce, I do feel good about how hard I worked and where I'm at in my own life. I do believe my stbx has issues he won't acknowledge and I believe he will forge ahead making the same mistakes time and time again. I can take comfort knowing I have made serious efforts to be a better person and am not blind to my own short-comings. This chapter of my life is closing. I have my children and my sanity and I will be just fine. I have NO idea what the future holds but I remain optimistic!
