I'm Deironed
I found out Friday and it's official... I am deironed. I won't have a phlebotomy for 12 weeks! I feel anemic and I'm positive I am. The doc seems to think so too but he said it was neccessary. I'm so happy I could cry. 12 months ago I found out I had Hemochromatosis. My ferritin was 3,166. I was a life long needle phobe. I passed out for the first few phlebotomies. A year later I have less iron in me than an average man, and a new tattoo! I am so glad that I'm not the hypochondriac everyone said I was. I'm so glad I found this site. I would have NEVER been able to do it without these people. I learn something new everyday. I am much wiser about my disorder and I hope to hang around here and pop in from time to time to answer questions from people who are in the position I was in a year ago. It's been a long road. I still have palpatations, joint pain, and a brain fog but I am alive. Thanks to good doctors I am alive. Thanks to God I am still here to see my boy grow up. ~Jonathan

Hi Jonathan! I joined this group just so I could say HOW HAPPY I AM FOR YOU and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Funny there was a time when hemochromatois consumed my life. But Jonathan there is life after you are finally deironed!!! I will never forget the day I found out I was done and that was several years ago. My ferritan was 3200 when I started and it took me nearly 3 years to deiron because of complications. I am now 50 years old and besides the joint pain and arthritis I am healthier today then when I was 20 and 30. Anyway.....enough about me I just could not let this post go unnoticed. THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!! And I KNOW the feeling about being a hypochondriac. YOU ARE NOT!!! Take kare my friend and enjoy your new life! Karen
Hi Jonathan ,I just joined today and stumbled across your journal ,first one of many I will be reading .It really stopped me because of your hypochondriac wording .I to was being addressed as that to a point I was beleaving it myself . Thank You for sharing your story and congradulations !!!
Hoorah! I\'m so happy for you Jonathan! But please DO hang around - we still need you even if you don\'t need so many phlebs!
It\'s WONDERFUL news though, really delighted.
Thanks all!!!
\"Hypochondriac\" -I feel you brother! This is how I feel like i\'m being looked at as...It\'s not a good feeling:( To be \'a mystery\' isn\'t easy.
