I'm Back in the Saddle Again!
Monday, June 22, 2009 – 8:35 P.M. So far, this has been a peachy summer -- not! First, we had nine straight days of severe stormy weather. Now, we are scheduled to have at least five days with temperatures in the 90s. My body just cannot adapt to this. I am sitting at home freezing to death. I finally turned off my air-conditioner this afternoon, got a lightweight blanket, and buried myself beneath it until I thawed out. My depression seems to have gotten to a yearly low point during the past week I saw Dale today, and he said that he and Dr. Martin had spoken last week by phone. From the way he tells it, they had a long and lengthy discussion about me. I did not like the sound of that. The two of them were quite concerned about the narcotics that were stolen from me. Dale had me tell him about the strange behavior of the nurse who had been here twice in less than four days. He agreed with me that something did not sound quite right. He asked me to give him the name of the Director of Nursing for my home health agency. I did that, and he said he was going to contact her regarding this and a few other things. He also said that he had a responsibility to notify the Adult Protective Services about the theft. Dale said that should have been done by the home health care agency, but we both had some doubts as to whether they did that. He said that he is going to talk to the director of nursing in a few days, and I have an idea that when he does so, all hell will break loose! This Thursday, I am supposed to see a psychiatrist who prescribes my medication at the mental health clinic. Dale thinks that I need to have a change in antidepressants. I told him that I did not like the idea because I am allergic to so many other medications, and when I do make changes, I often wind up in the hospital. He said he would send a note to the doctor and then leave it up to the two of us to decide what should be done. I said that I would not change medications without the agreement of my Primary Care Physician. Dale seems to think that I am stressed out because of some of the medical problems I have been having lately, the family counseling therapy we have been having, and a multitude of other problems that I have been going through. I agreed with him on that. Last week, my niece's husband finally came to help me with some of the problems I have had with my computer software, my iPod, and my new cell phone. As my luck would have it, my computer software worked just fine by the time he got here. He showed me how to get my iPod connected to iTunes, but I still do not know how to download anything from iTunes to the iPod since I am not connected to something called a Wi-Fi network. I feel like throwing the iPod through the window. I bought my cell phone from Cricket, so he called the company in order to get the cell phone activated. The person he talked with said that it had to be taken to one of their stores in order to have it programmed. I told him I would take care of that, but have not felt like doing it yet. I finally received an e-mail from my brother (after two weeks) this afternoon. He wants to come see me with the idea that we can go to a movie together sometime next week. I am not too keen on the idea since I do not feel as though he is being sincere in the way he feels towards me. Besides, that also runs into the Fourth of July holiday. During my absence from DS, I am sure that I have missed keeping up with a lot of journals. I seriously doubt that I will be able to catch up with where I left off on all of them, but I will do the best that I can. If I should happen to miss some, it will not be intentionally.

I think I\'ve been \'light\' on journals lately, in quantity, so no worries. Nothing much here to read.
I\'m sorry time is out of synch for you and everything seems to be happening at once.

Thinking of you always hang in there hugs-Stephanie
I\'ve been lagging in journal reading, too.
I wish I could come and help with your iPod, Jim.
I say skip the movie with your brother. Tell him you are not well or that you died already or something. I do not trust him. I think he causes too much pain and he needs to work on those issues for himself before he hangs out with you. He needs intense therapy on his own.
I like Dale. I like how perceptive he seems. I hope you feel okay about him notifying Adult Protective Services. I think victims of crime need advocates to act on their behalf because sometimes the crime itself is devastating enough to have to deal with.
I\'m glad you are so in tune with your antidepressants. I am always scared to switch them around, too. Like you, I have a good rapport with my primary physician and I trust him. I often find that switching meds is all I need to give me a jump-start out of the darkest episodes of depression. I just got prescribed Wellbutrin in combination with cymbalta and it helped give me some energy.
More Hugs and Mojo for you. Be extra gentle with yourself, as hard as that is when you are fighting off depression.
How is your back doing now? I think that might have contributed to how you\'ve been feeling lately too.
What about the money your brother stole from you? Can you put some of that towards hiring a computer technician or the likes to come and help out once in awhile?
Thanks to everyone who has left comments for me.
Sam, you have asked a whirlwind of questions, which I will try to answer, although not necessarily in the order which they were asked.
As for the iPod, it is sitting to the side of my desk. I do not intend to do anything with it anytime soon. If nothing else, I can always give it away as an expensive Christmas present.
I do not know what I am going to do about seeing a movie with my brother. I have managed to put off answering his e-mail until after I see my psychologist tomorrow afternoon. I want to bring her up to date on what is going on and see what she has to say.
Dale says my brother has some serious issues of his own to deal with, and although he may think he has fooled everyone, he has actually fooled no one. He added that my brother seems to think he is situated on a tall pedestal, looking down on the rest of us. Dale also said that it might be best if my brother went on his \"summer sabbatical,\" because Dale and I need to work alone on some of my own problems.
I am not entirely comfortable with him contacting the Adult Protective Services because I am somewhat concerned that my home healthcare agency will find a way to inflict some form of retribution upon me. On the other hand, if that does happen, I will find some way to deal with it.
Thank you for the advice on the depression. I am rarely, if ever, gentle with myself primarily because I do not think I deserve it. However, I will keep what you said in mind.
My back seems to be feeling somewhat better, even though I have had to cut back on the pain medication because of the theft I had. Maybe it is the change in weather.
My brother and his wife paid for my hearing aids to be repaired, so he is coming through with some money whenever I needed. All I have to do is ask him for some, but when I do that, I feel as though I am begging, and I do not enjoy that.
I know what you mean about feeling like begging. I hope we can help you with that. I think that all your brother may be good for is acting as your bank. If we can shift your perception so that is how you see him then perhaps his theft of your money can be turned around into something positive for you. You can figure out what role he plays in your life and it won\'t be the person who has the ability to harm you with his judgment. I really like what Dale said about him. I\'m so glad he finally gets it. I\'m still a bit upset you had to go through all you did to get here but we take what we can get, right?
I\'d be afraid of backlash too. I\'m terrified of those people in positions of authority. That is why I\'m glad Dale took on the task of reporting. I always get told that I have power to stick up for myself now so I\'ll simply pay it forward. If you do suffer backlash, there are options to have it stopped. I know that sounds like measly advice but again, we take what we can get. You\'ve come sooooo far since I\'ve met you, Jim.
I\'m glad the back is feeling better.
Hugs and MOJO.
I am so very glad somebody is looking into the drug issue pertaining to the missing narcotics.
I have decided to send Dale a Christmas card.
He is on the missing drug thing, he sees a change of meds may be helpful, even though you are both right on all those exacerbating complication which are increasing the downward trend.....I love run on sentences, by the way....and he sees that damn pedestal in the clouds on which your brother has built a shaky empire.
Even though you are not feeling your best right now, I see a lot of work and much improvement in your journal entry.
