I\'m Back!!

My appt was at 8:30 so just to be on the safe side I left at 7:30 cause it is across town.  Well it only took me 30 minutes.  Good right?  Well first you have to wait to pay.  Sign in and wait your turn.  Then go over to the Gyn/Onc dept.  I made it there by 8:30, and again sign in and wait.  There were several people ahead of me.  To top it all off the Dr. didn't get there till 10:00.  I thnk I fianly saw her at 10:45.  Then down to the lab for blood.  Go home around noon. It seemed to go pretty well except for one thing.  Her protegee' found a little teeny tiny half of a pea size lump on the upper right quadren of my right breast.  She said that is a dangerous part of the breast.  She is going to order an ultrasound.  Better to be safe than sorry. The way it is set up there is different than at a private Dr's.  You don't go into a room.  It is just these little partition areas, make private with just a curtain.  I could not help but here what was going on next to me.  The doctor was telling a lady who was there with her daugter, that she had stage 4 cervical cancer, that had spread to her lungs.  She told her that it probably was incurable.  That she could possibly go into remission with chemo, but it would inevitably come back.  She gave her some options for chemo.  Some Clinical trials and such.  My heart was breaking.  This kind of goes along with what we where talking about on Inka's journal.  It cannot be easy telling somebody that.  She was very discreet however.  When I stepped out of my little partition, her curtain was open.  She was not there but her daughter was sitting in there crying.  I wanted to say something to her, but I wouldn't know what to say.  I do wish I had. Anyway it will be a couple of days before I know the results of the CA 125  I will keep you all posted.  I gained 12 pounds.  Yikes!  She didn't say anything about that though. Love to all my sistersAnita

Hi Anita
it is waiting time now for next couple of days ...very hard to carry on with normal day to day chores while thinking about the results .........I have strong feelings that you will be fine !! How sad the situation of the woman in the next cubicle ..........I am in the same boat ...was told my tumour will be back around 2 yr mark ....but I try not to think about it ....I suspect John think about it a lot and cry a lot in private .......
I pray the ultrasound gives you the all clear ....I too have an ultrasound coming up on 2nd Dec ....
I just wish 2009 to be a better year for all of us ...

Love and hugs .............Monica

Monica, I refuse to believe that. Just like we talked about, mind over matter. You have to believe. Sending you the most powerful healing hugs.

I agree that keeping happy and positive does affect our bodies just like grief does too. I hope you have a very peaceful day Anita. And Monica you too!!!!!!

It is good that your breasts were checked and that this will be dealt with.. Despite my situation I have never been given any sort of examination on my breasts. I mentioned it to my doctor once but he said that if I am checking them myself then I should be alright.. Well, I have big breasts and often think that self examination isn\'t enough.. Hopefully this will be a simple thing for you to sort out.. try not to worry.. we are all getting quite good at these sort of things here I think..

What a long and trying day that was for you.. I hate it when I hear of patients having to waste time when things could be sorted out better.. I am given a form for my next blood test straight after the previous one. I can have that done either at my doctors surgery or at the hospital a couple of days before my appt with the specialist, so that we have the results for the meeting.

I can really feel for that woman and her daughter and can imagine how distressing it was for you to listen to her diagnosis.. this should have been done more sensitively and with greater privacy.. What is the point of patient confidentiality when this sort of thing can happen..

Glad you got through it all and will be waiting with you and hoping for the very best results.. Extra big love and hug to you xxx

I have very small breasts and they have always been fibro cystic, so I never know what is suppose to be there and what isn\'t. They are so much more trained then we are in feeling for these things. Now they are saying self examination is not a good idea. Don\'t remember what the reason is. I would have never found this little thing myself. As a matter of fact I still can\'t feel it. But if the intern and my Dr. both say it is there I guess it is. I need to call to see when they can set up the ultasound.

Footnote: They want to do a mamogram before they do the ultasound. So I go tomorrow at noon for the mamo.

It wasn\'t on an exray, it was something they felt.
