i'm ashamed...
Ashamed that i've been having a pity party the last couple of weeks.... I was watching the Chicago Sports Awards earlier and they gave the number one trophy for most inspirational athelete to a 19 year old girl with CP... She and her twin sister were born with it.. her sister's case is more debilitating.. I watched and listened as this girl talked from her wheelchair about how everything she has accomplished was a fear she had.. she was afraid to swim so she learned to scuba dive... she was afraid of heights so she learned to rock climb (with out the use of her legs) and it went on... She said we could watch life go bye and feel sorry for ourselves or we could go after our fears and enjoy life... then i quietly watched another hero.. i watched her mom as she sat with her other daughter... And i thought what strength these three women have... Did it make me feel bad for feeling sorry for myself, maybe a little but it made me realize that i did waste that time and from this point on to attack things in a positive way... I have a lot to be happy about including a wonderful family... I thank young Maribel Melendez (i think that's her name) for inspiring me and making me realize it's time to move forward...
