I like Ike
I like Ike.No no the president..... I really dont care for the hurricane or what it did to peoples lives. It was a killer. People lost their lives, their homes, their jobs. But it also brought people together. People who would normally not talk to each other, had to. Not since 9/11 have I seen people share in a universal emotional disaster like this. Eventhough not man made, it made many take stock in what is important. I for one got the opportunity to pray and get my priorities strait. It also shed some light on who my friends were. Living alone is never fun, but it is even less fun when a monster comes screaming from the tropics. I had some true friends offer me a place to stay, call during the storm, yes at 3am, and it gave me hope. In a storm ravaged life, my life is still important that people were concerned for my safety. Many people infact. So as devastating as the media is, the storm, my life, there is down to the core good left in many. It will be forgotten by many. We will return to our electronics ( I know it is ironic), our busy lives and forget that the person we flipped off in front of our car has a life, a love, a place here. This will be one of those stories, during the hurricane. After the hurricane. 25 years ago I watched a storm take lives, and give it. Today I can reflect about hurricane Alicia'83 and wonder what it will be like in 25 more years. I am 62 and to damn old to ride this horse, i had better take the carriage out of here (powered by electricity, precious electricity).
