I KNOW I need help
Maybe I should try AA because I know I can't do this on my own. I have always thought AA is so lame because I see people on tv standing up saying "Hi my name is....and I'm an alcoholic" I just think it's lame as hell and don't like being bothered with people. But I have been drinking again, and I now know I need more help than whats online. I come here and talk to people and read everyones stories, but I obviously can't kick this habit alone. I feel like a total loser for giving in and drinking, and I even thought about it before I did it, so It's not like I didn't know. It really sucks because I never thought I could have a problem like this. I thought I was above this, but apparently I am not. I am probably being hard on myself, but I guess I need to be or I will never get past this, and be dead in my early 50's like my dad whom everyone claims died from heart failure or something, but I know better. I know he would still be alive if he didnt have this addiction. I just don't want to be unhealthy and die young too. If I could afford rehab I think I would go. But I can't so I will just have to figure something else. Someone from Sweden messaged me the other day and said they didn't want to ever drink because they were afraid they might like it too much, and I told this person not to drink because that could be true. I started off just drinking because I liked it, and now I want to drink because I don't even know why

Dear Campy,
A.A. works for a couple of reasons. 1) you have to publicly admit to being weaker than what you up against. 2) By sharing what you are fighting you gain a better understanding of yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and your triggers to avoid.
A fact: if you are born with the alcoholic gene then the cards are so stacked against you that is is not even funny!!!!!
Not all people are helped by A.A., a majority are which is a blessing. But not all. I wasn\'t. Some of us need a combination of things and it takes a while to figure out what works for you. The biggest thing is not to give up trying to get and stay sober!!!!!!! You always have a friend in me, Eric
aa does work ..just hang around people that have sobriety,,don\'t hinge on relapse,,,get a good sponsor,,,,i know it\'s a good place to gain sober relations,,,,,and learn how to have fun doing so...you can do it....hugs your way..
I know you are being too hard on yourself, been there done that. I think sometimes its part of this disease. Remember you are not perfect. Get to a meeting and when you introduce yourself tell them about how many days you had sober and that you relapsed. You will get lots of phone #\'s to call from the women of the group, and get a temporary sponsor till you find someone you are comfortable
with and get someone that has many years of sobriety, that is very important. Let me know whats going on Best of Luck Janna
I don\'t completely agree with everything that AA has to say, but one thing in the literature suggests we keep an open mind..So, having said that..why not commit to AA for 30 days...see if you could break that ten day sober mark.and then take it from there....Maybe something good comes out of it.......Maybe,you meet someone like yourself you totally relates to your position..........I know my longest time of sobriety in fourteen years was eighteen days..I know , being a daily drinker, as you have described.yourself that the pain is excrutiating , at times.....so I can relate to your pain and discomfort of feeling like you have let yourself down again and again....I have met hundreds of aquaintances, but the dozen great friends i know ..i wouldnt trade them in for the world..They are my sobriety.....Take care!
