I know I\'ll be OK
My stbx stopped by tonight to pick up his recipe and spices for this Venison sausage that he and his buddies make every year. I had it all waiting and ready for him at the door. Didn't plan on letting him any further than the front porch. Once he come into the foyer he tried to hand me a gas bill for over $508. I said, "what's this" and he said that I knew he hasn't been paying the bill and now it's in shut off status. I said, "and how would I know that? I assume that you are paying all the bills as you have since last May". He said, "well, you get the bill". So stupid. The bill he was handing me is in his name and mailed to his parents address. How would I see this bill? I told him there is no way I can pay that and that he better find a way to get it paid. He said he didn't have the money and I then said, "well, then maybe you should have gotten another job while you were laid off". Which he still is by the way. He said things are not looking good for him going back to work and I again said find a job. I told him the day after he got laid off, I got a 3rd job and he has done nothing but hunt for 3 months. What's wrong with this picture? He kept the gas bill and said he would call the gas company and work something out. Since he was standing in the foyer, our dog heard his voice, she came to the basement steps and whimpered. She adores him, so he went down to see her. I often told him if he treated me half as good as he treated her we would've had a great marriage. She got more attention and affection from him than I ever did - pitiful. When he was down there a little too long I went down and asked him what he was doing. You're not going to believe this - he was gathering his ice fishing equipment. I told him - and I quote - "you are not going to find a job on the ice". No comment from him. Just another wake up call to me for the selfish man that he has always been. Here we have a shut off notice on our gas bill (me and the kids) and it's his responsibility and he's getting his stuff together to hit the ice. Again, pitiful. He tried to engage me into a conversation about how the kids are doing and I completely ignored his questions. He got his stuff and said, see you later (just a general comment) and I said nothing - just shut the door when he left. It was easy. No emotions, no fallout, nothing but disgust. Curiously he didn't mention court tomorrow. Wonder if he'll remember to show up. He'll probably be out on Lake St. Clair - ice fishing. Works for me. Like I said - after looking at the whole picture with my eyes wide open - I know I'll be OK. In fact, I know I'll be even better than before.
