i know! aye no!

or is that, "aye no! i know?"

big sis has been sent home from kindergarten for head lice quite a few times this school year. the first time, back in september, i took it in stride. this is my second parenting career. i'm no stranger to head lice. in my first parenting career, i treated just about every kid in our social circle and felt like something of an expert on the subject. back in september, i expected that prowess to translate into my second parenting career with natural ease. 5 months later i find myself on the verge of tears at yet another round. is this a covidic strain that never will just go away?

sigh. . .

baby sis and i opted for the only guaranteed cure for head lice: shaving your head. big sis couldn't bear that thought, but she did ask to have her thick, lice nurturing locks cut down a bit further, still.

i found myself raging at my departed son yesterday. you're supposed to be dealing with this crap, you deadbeat asshole. how dare you unload this responsibility on me! ! ! get your fucking ass down here and step up to the plate. HOW DARE YOU DIE ON ME! ! !

methinks i am misspelling, "i know" again. or am i misspelling, "aye no?"

hubs and i are going tit for tat over a little league blowout last night. i wasnae there for the event, but triggered off hubby's opening line on the announcement that, "there was a cliche argument on the field last night. . ." the family member coaching from the bleachers and escalating until s/he is out on the field going fisticuffs with one of the volunteer adults on the field. don't ask me to distinguish one position from another. coach, umpire, scorekeeper, leaper or creeper, they be all the same to my unsportly eye. i'm too busy increasing my social distances from the escalation in the bleachers to keep up with official details. that gang rape under high school bleachers still messes with my ability to focus on the games those bleachers were designed for. the strength of a mother's love remains the only force powerful enough to get me onto ANY bleachers, 50 years after the fact.

i doesn't know, but i does believe that this is the first time in his long athletic career that hubby has seen the bleacher-side view of that classic sporting event. he was a star player in his youth and is a super-star as a little league coach. he has spent far more time on the fields and courts than on the bleachers. the bleacher-eye view is all i know and i didnae much care for my starring bleacher role. please donae ask for an encore.

normally i detach while hubby tells his sport stories, complete with stats and sidebars. insert rodney crowell here. "just keep on talking, baby, i like the sound. it goes so good with the rain falling down." i amnae too savvy on the criteria, but methinks hubby could be a sports announcer, if he took the notion. his mellow tones and smooth cadences soothe THIS savage beast.

hearing those smooth, mellow tones plied to the bleacher eye view launched me into la la land. . .

i know. . . aye no! ! !
