I Hate Tornadoes

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 – 10:25 A.M. I was sitting at my computer, Sunday afternoon, when all of a sudden I heard what sounded like small rocks hitting the window. For a few minutes, I tried ignoring it, but then I thought it might be some of the younger children in the apartment complex tossing rocks at my windows (it would not have been the first time), so I went to my living room to look out the patio window. I was somewhat shocked to see marble-sized hail smashing down on everything in sight.   A while later, I was reading something on the Internet when an alert popped up say that a tornado had struck the Aurora mall, which is only a few miles from where I live. I have a Denver address, but live in unincorporated Arapaho County, which is where Aurora is located. I was not aware of all this when I first moved here. At that time, I thought I would still be living in Denver, which was where I wanted to be.   The tornado that struck the Aurora mall was only one of five hitting the Denver area that day. Stormy weather is predicted for later today, and more tornadoes are in the forecast for tomorrow. Rainy weather is going to stay with us for the remainder of the week.   There is no place I could go for protection from a tornado. I have often been told the safest thing for me to do would be to go into the innermost room, which is my bathroom, and stay there until the storm passes.   Since I had the “slight accident” last week when my right foot and leg were injured, I have been using Ted Hose to cut down on the swelling. This has not been very successful because the materiel is too large. I need to find some that is smaller, and which will create more pressure on my foot and leg in order to decrease the swelling. I am seeing my Primary Care Physician on Friday, so I am sure he will tell me what size to get, and where I can buy it.   My blood pressure problems appear to have decreased, and the readings have been back to normal lately. This has happened without my using any blood pressure medication. I tried taking things easier than normal during the weekend, and got the bright idea to listen to some music on my cable channels. That helped a lot. I am glad that I thought of it. Well, the idea actually came from a good friend on here. Thank you, Weeble!

Oh WHEW. I was worried about you.

This is the one time I won\'t say, \'dude, move here\', as we have had increasingly more destructive wind issues here too over the years.

I\'m glad you discovered the music channels on TV. I think too, that if you come in at the end of a tune, they have their programming schedule online and you can find out who did it, if the info was gone on the screen.

Tornadoes scare the BLEEP out of me! When I was a child, I went to a drive-in theater one night, and a tornado hit less than a mile from our car. The rain was smashing the car, which was being rocked back and forth by the high winds. It\'s not a nice memory.
