I hate arrogant doctors who think they can talk down to you

Hello DS family, I have been doing okay just trying to make it day by day. Tonight we had to go the Emergency room because my mom was having really bad chest pains. When we were at the hospital my mom had this really arrogant doctor who really treated my mom with disrespect. How everything happened; was that my mom was in really bad pain so she asked for something to help with the pain.
The doctor said, "we can give you something for the pain; but you need to know that you have been here over twenty times and we really take that seriously". Well, needless to say; I was seeing red. I went to the doctor and said, "how dare you talk to my mother that way, yes, she may have been here twenty times but each and every time was for a legitimate reason." I also told the doctor if she ever talk down to my mother or spoke to her in anything less than a respectful tone I would report her. It just really irritates me when doctors think that they can talk to patients without respect just because they happen to have the letters M and D after their name.

What the heck did the dr. mean by that \"we take this very seriously\"? They should take everything very seriously, but I don\'t know how she meant it. Hope your mom feels better.

I hope that your Mom feels better very soon! I\'m sorry that the doctor had to talk like that.

Love you,

I saw the caption for this journal entry in my Friends Activity page. I hope you don\'t mind that I put my two cents in.

I feel the same way about doctors. They often treat me disrespectfully for no legitimate reason. I think it\'s just a bad habit they develop, because they get paid way too much money for what they do, and because people have become so afraid of them that they rarely stand up to them.

When I was younger, doctors drove ordinary cars, lived in ordinary houses, and led ordinary lives. They weren\'t part of some special elite class that was separated from their patients\' lives. And their annual income was NOT in millions of dollars.

Quite frankly, I think a LOT of doctors need a reality check! That is totally horrible that your mother was treated that way.
IF she\'s been there 20 times...Then, darn it ... Find out what is WRONG with her..Stop sending her home without trying to fix her.

My mother in law came home yesterday from the hospital and while in there had a nurse who was way out of line. She asked my hubby and his mom why they came to their er. She should have went to the hospital where her primary doctor is.My mom in law was going into a diabetic shock and we called the ambulance. Who is this nurse to suggest we should not of gotten her emergency help? I just do not understand some of these professional health care providers.

We\'ve been in a similar position before, my family and I. I hope you get to the route of everything.
