I had to check on Brutus
Good Wednesday morning to everybody, and I hope you have a beautiful fall day! I tried to journal Monday. I was almost finished, and ... poof! It was gone! That's what happens when I don't do my journals on Word, then copy and paste!
It's 2:30 am. No sleep tonight ...... some pain and just short naps, laced with with crazy dreams. I just took some ibuprofen. If that doesn't work, Lortab is next. I must sleep ..... I have to go to Ft. Campbell today. I don't know what's worse: the crazy dreams or my current reality. Do y'all have nights like that???
I couldn't resist it. I called John Sunday afternoon to check and see how Brutus is doing. John had taken Brutus to the vet to get him checked out. Shocker ..... Brutus had been shot with a .22!!! By the time he made it to my house, the wound had scabbed over, and I thought he'd just jabbed himself on some brush!
Whomever shot Brutus was aiming for the kill. Brutus was hit in the chest. If the bullet had gone 1 inch in one direction, Brutus would have been dead ..... 1 inch in the other direction and his shoulder blade would have been shattered. Even if he had made to my house, he would have been crippled for life.
The vet left the bullet in Brutus. He said that as long as the bullet doesn't cause any problems, there's no reason to do major surgery to get it out, and there is no sign of infection.
Brutus is on pain meds and still limping, but he is better! When I called, the family was in the back yard with Brutus. Brutus was at the edge of the yard digging a hole in the ground in a concerted effort to dig up a mole! Friday and Saturday nights, he slept with John's son.
Grrrrrr! Makes me mad that someone tried to kill Brutus! I'm sure you can imagine how angry John is!!!
Please pray for my husband's family. My mil has severe jaundice. Her liver is no longer functioning. There's nothing the doctors can do. My fil passed away on Sept. 17, and my mil won't be long behind him.

I\'m so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, Nancy!! It is that way so very often. When folks get older and lose their spouse, they seem to pretty much lose their zest for life, and often follow close behind! I\'m so sorry you all are going through this trial right now.
Oh goodness! I\'m very happy that they don\'t have to do surgery on Brutus. The Lord had a guardian angel lookin over that feller when he was shot! I still can\'t believe the poor dog took a bullet!! I know he\'ll be ok. It sounds like he\'s getting back into the swing of things. I know how happy you will be to see him regain his strength!
You have had a rough go of it lately, haven\'t you? Sometimes everything happens and once an we just kinda walk around in a daze. That\'s ok, if we remember who\'s in charge and lean in. Everything has it\'s purpose in our lives. We have to be patient! Easier said than done, I know. It\'s a lesson I\'m being tested on right now as well.
Let\'s lean on the Master! Thinking of you, Nancy! I miss seeing you around!! xo
Oh, dear Nancy. I do hope you got some sleep. I know about nights like that. They are horrible. Rest as much as you can, even if you don\'t sleep.
What a terrible story about Brutus. I don\'t know why people can be so cruel. I\'m so glad he survived and is still able to play with his family.
Your MIL will be in my prayers as will your whole family. Many blessings to you. I know this is a terribly difficult time for all of you.
I have been catching up on your last few journals. I am so glad you were inspired to call the radio station and put out the alert about finding Brutus. He and his family must be so happy to be reunited. I can\'t believe someone shot him - he\'s obviously a family pet and a friendly dog. Luckily the mean person who did that was a bad shot. I\'m sorry to hear about Tim\'s mom. This has been such a difficult season for the family. Praying for her and for you to have the strength to be a support. xoxo, Morebooks
Some days my dreams are SO much more sane than my waking state. Especially, lately. I feel I\'m living in a Jerry Springer episode.
Ohmygosh!!!! I can tell how mad you are about Brutus by your red font! I am too! Errrrr!!! SO glad he is OK and on the mend. You saved him sweet lady.
So sorry your family is going through so much. Sending a ton of love and light to you, Tim, your MIL and your family. Supportive hugs Nancy...
