I Give Up!

I give up!  The Texas Health and Human Services Department says the only thing I qualify for is $51 A MONTH for Food.  No help with rent.  No help with medical.  No help with utilities.  Reasons?  I live alone and don't have any kids or parents living with me and my unemployment is too high.  I guess I should have had 5 or 6 kids, legitimate or not and live in my car or on the street.

Aw darlin\', that sucks! I know how it is here in CA. Its just my hub and I. we arent druggies or have a brood of minors running the streets either.We have no medical and for the 1st time our mortgage is late. How the hell I\'m gonna pull that out my ass is anyones guess. I\'m so sorry you didnt get the help you so desperately need. Linda xxxxxxx

I\'m so very sorry about your situation. I don\'t understand why they have cut the programs for the poor and needy back so much where there is no way to survive on what \'help\' is provided. Our society is really in the toilet except for the wealthy and well connected. I\'m just so glad when my husband died I had our savings to fall back on as we were very careful with money. That is the only reason I survived at all with having this disability and now with the death of my husband.

For those of us coping with illness and disability there is just no outside help available and when we can\'t work I don\'t know what we are suppose to do.

I wish I knew of some ideas that would help. I don\'t even trust churches anymore to care for the poor and needy as they are too busy playing golf and hobnobbing with the wealthy - more of a tax exempt country club than a church now days.

I know for me I grow as much of my own food in my garden as I can and that has been of some help.

I know here in California there is section 8 housing for the poor that reduces rent but I don\'t know about Texas. I remember during my college years I was homeless and slept in my car - no fun at all and even dangerous at times.

I hope life improves somehow. So many people are in such a terrible situation anymore and no help anywhere.
