I fear my mother will not recover

I went to visit my mother today, and I fear that her recent illness, and the stay in the previous nursing home, has damaged her. She is still disoriented, and actually let me feed her the fruit in her fruit cup today.
She hasn't told them about her food likes and dislikes, and as she will not eat beans, chocolate, or ice cream, and had all on her dinner tray, she never said a word to them.
She thinks that the place she is in is the "worst place ever", yet it is the best rated nursing home in the area. They are really going to take care of her, and try to make her better. 
But I don't have a lot of hope.
