\"I don\'t know what to do anymore\"

I'm really frustrated because the meds I'm taking aren't doing any good.  I feel very depressed and anxious.  I'm taking Lamictal 100mg., Abilify 15mg, Xanax 1mg.3/day, Prozac 20mg, Wellbutrin 300mg and Ambien 12.5mg.  The side effects I'm having are terrible, I have involuntary movements of my left hand, loss of memory etc....  I would love everybody's opinion on this.  I want to go back to work part-time, but I'm not ready.  I'm also trying to find out if I lose any benefits, since I'm disabled, because I can really use the money.  Blessings, Bonchi.

I would like to tell you everything is going to work out with time but my experience says two things 1. your doses aren\'t that high and to have so many bad side effects means you are going to have to take a lot of different coctails before you find the right one. 2. If you feel your disorder is prohibitive enough the sooner you start to apply for disability benifits the better. I have tried pt jobs and with mood swings it just means part time I have a job and part of the time I don\'t

I know when I had involuntary movements, my doctor put me on a high dose of Benadryl to combat it, and it worked. Maybe talk to your pdoc. If you\'re not liking what\'s happing with this one, try to find another.

I\'ve been on similar drugs at those dosages or higher.

everything that you wrote down for us you should read to your pdoc. i think him/her would really like to know. it won\'t hurt to share it would only help. your meds definitely need a bit of a change.

It seems that you are on a lot of meds to me. maybe it would be better to streamline them a bit. Some might be counteraction with others. I\'m not a Dr. in any sense. Look up the side for them would be my first step and then talk with your pdoc : Here is a good site to look them up:

I agree with crzychick. I am a strong advocate against over medication. I believe it is important for us to trust our pdoc, know everything we can about the meds we are taking, journal daily about our side effects, symptoms and emotions, and communicate it clearly with our pdoc. We are our own best advocate when it comes to our care. I have been on many many different drugs and it seemed the more I was taking, the worse I felt. One caused side effects that needed another drug and so on. I am not saying you dont need the drugs you are taking. What I am saying is that sometimes docs over medicate trying to encourage another med to work. I believe in a streamlined treatment of meds, regular pdoc appts and regular therapy appts. It is important that we know ourselves well and do everything we can to be the best we can be. This includes more than just taking meds. It includes, exercise, eating healthy, avoiding drugs and alcohol at all costs and meditation to learn to control our emotional instability. I have spent over 30 years with this illness and find I have more control over the outcome of my health than I previously thought. I very firmly believe in medication but also believe that they should be used with great care and with our personal full knowledge of how those meds are working for us. Dont give up but take a personal stand in your own treatment and care. I will pray you find the answers you seek and are able to discern what is best for you. Blessings and hugs
