I don't know

So tonight is just like any other night we have dinner, clean up and were sitting at the table talking. Apparently my mother-in-law has some concerns with me transitioning.

The first question out of her mouth was "as a mother" why would my daughter want to be a man? I was taken back it was like she slapped me in the face. She said she supported me shouldn't her first question be how long have you felt like this? Or why didn't you tell me sooner? 

I'm super upset right now I guess I was wrong that I don't have her support
