I did something really stupid
I did something really stupid and I am very ashamed of myself. I don't know what got into me except I was feeling very lonely and desparate.
I have had very bad luck with the free dating websites so I
joined a paid one. AT the paid website, I met a woman much younger then me. (I should have realized, the photos were probably not even real because they looked too perfect.) But anyway she got me to join another website and I clicked on the 3 day deal for .99 and they charged me for 3 months! No contack info whatsoever! I researched the company and they are headquartered in cyprus of all places. So I got screwed out of 60 bucks because I am a broken-hearted lonely old man who was taken advantage of :(
This is one of the few times in which I allowed my emotions to control my actions. My money comes very hard to me and I feel embarrassed, devastated, Tired, and pathetic, stupid, not to mention poorer.
How could I be so stupid?

Bob: Over and done - on to tomorrow. eHarmony is an excellent site. Actually, my youngest son met his wife 9 years ago on Match.com. She had her Masters Degress and was a Special Ed teacher. Her father is an MD and mother was a teacher for over 30 years.
They are happily married with two darling children. So, take your time and explore the sites that interest you.
Do not be hard on yourself - this is part of learning and living!
Take good care.
degree! I type too fast!
update, I found where they hide their phone number and will call them tomorrow. If they give me a hard time I will contact the credit card company.
I think what I really need to do is grow up and act my age!
Its ok you\'ll not drink over it will ya?
It\'s OK :) Give yourself a break
I hope you have success in getting the 3months canceled. If not contest the charge with the credit card company and hope they can get it removed.
My daughter also has had great results with E-Harmony after her divorce.
Thanks guys, and girls
most of the bigger sites match, chemistry, senior meet people, christian mingling - you know, the ones you see all the time, are owned by one company. Their cancellation policy is straight forward and they stand by it. Always read the cancellation policy first..
If you dig deep enough for the one you joined, I am sure there is a cancellation policy, but not easy to find.
Are there any meet-up groups in your area that you could get involved with? or church groups? maybe internet dating isn\'t the thing to do right now. There are more scammers out there on the internet then there are real people and true online love isn\'t all that common.
Do a search for the internet site that scammed you. and find everything you can about them. Is there an internet BBB to report them to? I would also contact your bank. they may issue you a new card which will make the numbers you gave dating site void...
Awww honey, - don\'t beat yourself up. There are sly people out there and everyone gets taken now and then. Your credit card company will reverse the charges, I\'m sure. Live and learn. Oh, and your not an old man. 58 is the new 48!
We have ALL done stupid things we regret later. We are human. You certainly are not alone! Try to get involved: church functions, volunteering. Teach music! Volunteer at a dog shelter. You will meet kind hearted people like yourself. You will feel good about yourself that your are \"giving back\" and doing something good for someone else. These things are free! Hang in there Bob!
so much good advice! but dont be ashamed . That is such a cruel emotion-and one you wouldnt dish out to other people, so why punish yourself. Its just a oooops.
