I can\'t sleep...
I haven't slept more then a few hours in the last couple of weeks....I lay there either staring at the ceiling thinking or crying into my pillow. I cry way more then I ever have...I try putting the TV on but it does no good. I can't seem to shut off my mind. When I do fall asleep I usually dream of me leaving here...or getting ready to go...things get ugly and I have to wake myself up. I have been sick with a cold and flu for the past few weeks too and can't seem to shake it. My head is pounding non stop and I am completely exhausted. All day at work I seem to be dragging myself through the day but when I get home and lay down I can't seem to relax...its as though I can't unwind...I just don't feel right...8(

You probably can\'t shake your illness because you need sleep! I wish I had some magic idea to help you turn everything off for a staight 8 hours so you could sleep. I\'m so sorry you are going through such a hard time. I fall asleep, but by 2am I\'m awake and thinking. Take care and if I think of some wonderful advice I\'ll let you know.
lack of sleep definately makes coping much harder. I went through the same thing ( i still dont\' sleep well) but i did get some sleeping pills that i took regularly during the separation and divorce process. I found that when i was able to sleep while taking the pills, i was able to handle what was thrown at me much better. Perhaps try asking a doctor or even a therapist (some can prescribe medication) for something to help you get through this.
Thanks ladies!!
Life shouldn\'t be so hard on you - and then when your body feels so tired, but your mind is unwilling to rest - things just seem so much worse. Don\'t put too much pressure on yourself, at home, at work or even at night to go to sleep. Think in really small steps, ones that don\'t seem so very overwhelming. Try visualizing a fun time you had in the past as you are trying to get to sleep, something that could possibly help you relax. Give yourself some attainable goals for the day, and only focus on those, and then when you go to bed at night you will feel like you accomplished something, feel good about yourself and hopefully not think too much. I truly believe in only focusing on what you can control - nothing else. I live by that and it is what keeps me going - you take care of yourself, try to laugh at something today - a laugh always makes you feel good.
Maybe you should see a doctor. Get something for your cold and something to help you sleep. You sound exhausted physically and emotionally. You really need to sleep - even if it takes some meds right now. It would make a world of difference. Take care of YOU please. Sometimes we forget about that.
Oh, that stinks!!! If you really can\'t seem to sleep maybe you can try some over the counter equivalent to Benadryl (it help you sleep - it\'s in Tylenol PM and Advil PM). Sorry that you aren\'t feeling well, hope it clears up soon...Maria J.
have you seen your doc? i have experienced the same as you. i finally had to give in and start on meds. i take klonopin and lexapro and they really help with the racing thoughts. (((((laurel)))))
