I Can't Keep Silent on This

I've been trying to avoid writing about religion and current events in my journal, but it's just not working for me.
I know a lot of my friends here say they are Christians, and the people in my community make a lot of noise about how Christian they are. But what puzzles me is the way they are all silent about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East. Some of those people over there are descendants of the earliest adherents to the religion, yet they've been disowned by the people in the US who call themselves Christians. This makes no sense to me.
Anyway, here's a link to an article that describes what's happening in the Middle East to Christians. But there are similar things happening in countries like Syria, and many Americans are supporting a ban on Syrian immigration.

Maybe it's because I'm not a Christian that I don't understand this. But it seems clear to me that we should stand up for persecuted people no matter what their beliefs are...or our beliefs are. That's just me, and I'm not going to change.

Richie, I do feel we need to accept refugees. However, even I am concerned as some of them are terrorists from the Middle East who come under the guise of being a refugee. One of the 8 terrorists who killed 130 in Paris last month was a recent immigrant. The San Bernardino killings by a terrorist couple--the wife was an immigrant from Pakistan 2 years ago. My preference is that we take as many refugees as we can. We are one of the wealthiest nations on earth. People have already forgotten the children washing up on beaches or ISIS beheading Christians too easily. Those poor people are running for their lives.
The Christians in Bethlehem don\'t want to come here, they just want to live in peace in their homes. And our surrogates are ethnically cleansing them
All we have to do is stop sending billions of dollars in aid to the regime that\'s persecuting them...or at least put pressure on them to start obeying international law.

It alwasy amazes me what the public or the media wants to discuss and what it wants to bury in the sand. You\'d make an excellent media critic.
I\'m seeing numerous stories on the TV about Bethlehem, and they all show Zionist troops in battle gear in the streets, then blame all the violence on Palestinians. The intention is obviously to portray the IDF as peacekeepers, which is the exact opposite of what is really happening.
Since October, 1200 Palestinians have been killed by the Zionists, and a large percentage of those killed were children. That is a fact that is not being reported in US mainstream media. One of those killed wasn\'t even a Palestinian, he was an immigrant from Eritrea. The Zionist thugs mistook him for a Palestinian.
The United States is supporting ethnic cleansing, genocide, theft of land, depriving communities of their access to water, destruction of olive groves, detention and torture of children in large numbers, and widespread demolition of dwellings. The US is now the only country in the world supporting the Zionist apartheid colony.
None of this is being reported in the US mainstream media. There is an almost total news blackout of reporting from that area.
