I Am Meth

I know there will be some moms who read this who it will perhaps hurt very much... It hurts me pretty badly... Part of me is wanting not to post this... but I think its more important to tell our children... and they are all OUR children... how dangerous drugs are... I'd like to pretend Cara was a saint... but she was very human... Well... I hope you won't judge her badly... If you could have known the Cara I knew you'd have felt so blessed... A loving, giving, caring person... a joy to have around... That is my Cara.

I reposted this from a friend’s face book page…  Cara had used meth… I don’t know how little or how much… but a few months before her death she was trying to stop using illegal drugs… She gave Richard and I a bag full of pipes and metal scouring pads to get rid of the means of using it…  We were afraid of even having the stuff in our car, so we took it to a dumpster outside a business place not too far from Cara’s house and threw it in the dumpster.
I never talk too much about Cara’s hard drug use… I’m so ashamed that she did that…  I read this poem… Many times I have thought how it might have been if Cara had not died… She had gone so far down the road toward destroying herself and all of us were trapped with her… I am not, can not, ever be glad Cara died… I want and wanted a miracle… I have been able to say that I am grateful that no one can use and abuse Cara ever again… not even Cara herself.

When I saw this on my friend's facebook page, I could not click like... I hate this poem...  It's too real...  I pray people will read it... and that they'll hear... addiction... its like prison... you walk in and the door slams... some may serve a life sentence... more will get the death penalty...
(This was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to meth. She wrote this while in jail. As you will soon read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug, as she tells in this simple, yet profound poem. She was released from jail, but, true to her story, the drug owned her. They found her dead not long after, with the needle still in her arm.) Please keep praying for our Children, Teens, Young adults. Understand, this thing is worse than any of us realize...
My Name: "Is Meth" I destroy homes, I tear families apart, take your children, and that's just the start. I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold, The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold. If you need me, remember I'm easily found, I live all around you - in schools and in town. I live with the rich; I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door. I'm made in a lab, but not like you think, I can be made under the kitchen sink. In your child's closet, and even in the woods, If this scares you to death, well it certainly should. I have many names, but there's one you know best, I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth. My power is awesome; try me you'll see, But if you do, you may never break free. Just try me once and I might let you go, But try me twice, and I'll own your soul. When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie, You do what you have to -- just to get high. The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms Will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms, your lungs your nose. You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad, When you see their tears, you should feel sad. But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised, I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways. I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from God, and separate friends. I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I'll be with you always -- right by your side. You'll give up everything - your family, your home, Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone. I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give, When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live. If you try me be warned - this is no game, If given the chance, I'll drive you insane. I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind, I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine. The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed, The voices you'll hear, from inside your head. The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see, I want you to know, these are all gifts from me. But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart, That you are mine, and we shall not part. You'll regret that you tried me, they always do, But you came to me, not I to you. You knew this would happen, many times you were told, But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold. You could have said no, and just walked away, If you could live that day over, now what would you say? I'll be your master, you will be my slave, I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave. Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? It's all up to you. I can bring you more misery than words can tell, Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

Oh sweetie, I have read this again and feel the pain of going down that road with our kids and how we too get trapped...I guess because we try to save them!I I did things for Jason that I would be ashamed to say that I did! And the part about throwing things away...Damn, I did the same. Throwing away those little tiny baggies, syringes, trying to explain why spoons were missing when the forks and knives stayed put! And I understand completely where you are going with saying that while you never wished Cara dead, there is some peace in knowing they can never harm themselves again nor can anyone else. I struggle today with my other son\'s addiction and if he ever relapses again, I can say that I would rather see him dead. Horrible, isn\'t it??
Peace.

Dear ladies...I can only imagine how horrible it is to see your children go down this road. It is as devastating for you as parents as it is for them..Elissa, it is an illness just like any other illness. Please don\'t be ashamed, it could happen to anyone. Melissa was healthy until she was 24. She developed a very bad case of ulcerative colitis due to her stressful job as a NYC teacher. Each year she got sicker and sicker. She dragged herself to work because she loved her students. Then in Nov. 2008 she died of a brain aneurysm. So please remember that addiction is an illness and you were as helpless as I. Much love, Connie

Addiction is an insidious disease that knows no boundaries. I have witnessed its devastation first hand and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. One feels so powerless over such a master and I too was in such denial and disbelief in the beginning because I had never experienced addiction in my life.

It was a roller coaster ride of the most epic of proportions and many do find sobriety. Why our precious children could not in this lifetime I will never understand... Deepest of sighs...

Like dear Connie said it is an illness and thank goodness I learned the 3 C\'s when I first attended an Al-Anon meeting. I did not cause it, I cannot control it and I cannot cure it. All of those things that I thought I could \"do\" if I just said or did the \"right\" thing...

Learning how to forgive ourselves becomes our life\'s work and from what I\'ve read from all the mothers no matter how their child or children shed their earth suits they are each trying to reconcile this tragic sequence of events.

Thank you dear Elissa, for posting this as I feel tears that I have needed to shed. This is very hard to read yet necessary for me because I must go \"there\" from time to time to remember and be in gratitude that no one in my family is \"there\" now. Sobriety is such a gift and one that I give thanks for each and every day.

With love to you and dear Cara... I would have loved to have known her because I know her heart is a tender one as is her mama\'s. Cara lives on because of you so please keep sharing...

I have read his poem before, but it never fails to give me chills. It is the sad, ugly, absolute truth!! My daughter has used meth and other drugs as well. Throw alcohol into the mix and it is a miracle she is still alive. She has been clean and sober almost six months now. I hope and pray that she will stay clean, however I know she still makes bad decisions and befriends other addicts. She lost both of her children, a beautiful home, her car, her job and almost her life. She is living in a half way house again and trying to get her life together again. I love her and always will. After losing my son, I am terrified I may lose her as well!!

Don\'t be ashamed that Cara did drugs. She, like most, made a bad decision and it destroyed her. Addiction is a desease, that some never overcome. However, Cara was and is your awesome daughter. The love between you will never die...

Tears....... Lump in my throat..... Tightening in my chest..... Pain..... Fear.....

Pleas, and begging from my soul.......

Yes, this was hard to read....but I\'m glad I did.....

I still want to pretend it\'s not real.....that heroin hasn\'t stolen a HUGE part of my sons life....a huge part of my son. But I can\'t deny it.....I can\'t pretend it away. Like my son, I have to face it, head on, and pray for the best....hope for the best....beg for the best......all the while knowing the worst may still yet happen.....

Today my son is clean. I celebrate that and I celebrate him. Today is enough....and it\'s all we have....

I love you!
LOVE TO CARA!!!!

Elissa - I could never judge. Lisa went to rehab when she was 18. We were so thankful that she was able to stay clean. I only wish that Cara had been able to - there is no justice in this world.
I see Cara and Lisa in heaven comparing notes. Lisa too was a kind, caring loving person. Our girls should be here enjoying life. Hopefully they are up there doing what they do best, having fun and making sure others do too!
That message is so important. Thank you for posting.
Love and hugs,
Marlene

This was hard to read, and took courage to post Elissa. So many can also get \"hooked\" by doctor prescribed pain meds...In my own family this was true...My son has many health issues now...which came first the chicken or the egg?...I am anxious but remind myself that \"God is in the boat!\" He\'s allowing this to unfold as it will..I\'m hoping for more healing and recovery in his future...and my own as I suffer when he suffers...Love, Donna
