I Am Grateful For Many Things
"I Dreamed A Dream"
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung No wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we'll live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed The dream I dreamed
Parts of this song I hate... but sometimes... it does seem like a hell... I am trying to gather all the memories of the good in my life... there has been a lot of good... to hold up against the sadness... I am grateful for the love I've had in my life... I'm glad for the laughs... I can not say that life has killed my dreams or my gratefulness... I don't want to erase the good memories by remembering only the bad parts...

My life has been a journey of many contrasts.... a LOT of bad and ugly, a LOT of wonderful and beautiful. That\'s the way of this human experience I suppose. No, I would not erase the good just to avoid the bad....
Love you dear friend~~
The sorrows that have carved a deep well within me enable me now to hold more JOY. Without one there would not be the other, would there?
The sorrow of losing a child is one I most certainly could of skipped yet it was not meant to be...
Always prayerful for a heart that is becoming more compassionate and loving rather than shut down and bitter. I\'ll never forget my former priest saying to me when my late brother died that I could become \"better\" or \"bitter\" through the experience. Those words have always remained with me and I certainly lean into them now.
Loving care to you dear Elissa and I hope too with every day that you are feeling stronger and \"better.\"

I too can relate to much of that beautiful song. It makes me so sad when I hear it. I did dream have dreams. But yes, sometimes life is Hell.
Like you, I try to focus on the good parts of my life. I used to tell people that I was the luckiest person in the world. I had kids that were doing well, we were traveling and living all over the world, I have a husband and caring friendsl Then the unthinkable happened and I would give anything to turn back the clock.
I am thankful that I had the opportunities that I\'ve had, the family I\'ve have, and the friends I have.
Wishing you a peaceful week.
Love and hugs,
Marlene
Dear friend, thank you for sharing. I have no dreams, they have been erased. I have been erased. I live for God. Not for myself. I can see the beauty in this world and in its people, and then there is also the horror. I carry my cross, I follow Him, I wait for the day it will end, when I will have finished the journey. I pray I will have done it well.
Tight Hugs.
I am so glad you posted this as for months now I have felt this way. I am trying to cheer and greet new moms and old and when they ask, \"Does it get better?\" I feel like such a liar.
I was asked the question a few days ago \"when did our lives get to be so hard?\" I asked a dear friend several weeks ago \" do you really know anybody that feels as though life is enjoyable or all we all just going through the motions?\" It seems as though life for many people is almost unbearable at times. I try to just take it one day at a time, sometimes just one hour at a time. I do have a great family, great friends and I do realize all of my blessings, but gosh darn it, sometimes it is just plain hard!
