hypervigilance

herstorically speaking, physical problems seldom trigger me to hyper-vigilance. they can be quantified and worked through a logical system to arrive at solutions. my work in environmental engineering and animal husbandry would not have been possible without the objectivity to treat a turd like a turd without the germaphobic drama. don't fear danger. master it. i like to pretend i'm smarter than a microbe when i deal with physical dangers.

it be the human psycho weirds which trigger my hypervigilance. what's behind your masks, especially the metaphorical masks which allow kiddie whorehouse to function as high profile celebrities by masking the perversions which keep the child sex trafficking circles in such high demand.

my youngest and oldest foster kids were up vomiting all night. no other symptoms, but the vomiting was substantial, all by itself. fun, fun, fun. the middle kid had no symptoms and slept soundly through the party. she woke with great enthusiasm that today was the day she would be able to give out the invitations to her 6th birthday party scheduled to happen this coming friday. she is super proud of the work she put into getting those invitations ready for distribution at school. between the tragedies of her life and the covidic isolation, she is still socially underdeveloped. we had dared to hope that this party could be a solid step toward the socialization which used to be considered important in childhood development.

by the time she woke, hubs and i had already discussed whether or not to send her to school today. her brother was/is a no-brainer. he had a rough night. if nothing else, he needs to catch up on his sleep. we decided to keep big sis at home, just to be safe. it is cold and flu season and viruses tend to be their most contagious before symptoms arise.

big sis fell into a thunderous silence when we told her of the decision. tears and drama would have been far less alarming than the sad withdrawal. in the end, we decided to err on the side of social development. with her 6th birthday approaching, she still doesn't have the social skill to know "friend" from "friendly." easy pickings for child predators.

i'm logically sure the masked police won't be coming up the driveway to punish us for having taken the risk, but there's just no predicting people, far less their marshal laws.

again i leave the mood icon on the rapid cycling median. is it naptime yet?
