My.longest journal entry- sorry more for my records so feel free to skip. Well, we had a crazy, unexpected day! Started out excited to be starting week 33, moving along nicely in this easy breezy twin pregnancy. I have felt so blessed to have had it so easy.
So just typing away at work this morning and felt a big kick a my cervix (which happens a lot). But this time I felt a huge gush. I gasped thinking I peed my pants but quickly realized it was not stopping so this had to be my water. I called a few coworkers over in shock to help me and started crying and shaking. Called DH to come get me and called the dr to verify I needed to switch my hospital plans because we now needed to go to a slightly farther hospital with a NICU.
My coworkers were so amazing and helpful and working to clean me up and stay calm. One girl was like, "oh and there is your mucus plug!" I felt awful for the incredibly large mess I ended up leaving- felt like gallons!
Got to the hospital and L&D triage confirmed my water broke (uh duh!). At about 11:30 they checked me and said I was barely 1cm. Only knew I was contracting slightly bc of the monitors. Admitted knowing they won't stop labor if it starts but if it stops they would keep me there until I do, up to 2 weeks and deliver at 35 weeks. Well contractions only grew stronger and pretty quickly. I told them I was getting more uncomfortable so dr came to check me at about 3:30pm. Discussed sending the NICU nurse in to talk with me in case it was needed in the next few days. Her mouth dropped open and said "actually we are having the babies right now bc you are 5-6cm and I can feel parts!" HUH?! 5cm in 3 hrs? More bawling on my part but the staff was wonderful to try and assure me.
Moved into emergency csection stage and it was just a whirlwind. Babies were out in about 20 mins from that point I believe. Being shaved while talking to anesthesiologist, signing stuff, etc. I bawled when I heard those babies cry. So happy to hear they were healthy enough to cry. Baby A weighed 5lbs 2 oz and came at.4:47. Baby B weighed 4lbs 9 oz and came at 4:49. Baby B was taken pretty quickly to NICU for inconsistent breathing and so they put him on a cpap and he is doing great. Baby A is doing wonderfully and is unassisted.
We are still in such shock they are here. We just didn't see this coming since everything had been going so well. The night before we had gone to shop for a new refridgerator and to select a pump through insurance! I had just set out my hospital bag to slowly start assembling it but only had a shower towel & take home outfits so DH went back to grab us both some things. We haven't decided who is who yet, I couldn't see their faces well when I got to see them since I was wheeled over in my bed. I CANNOT wait to do skin to skin this morning. Started pumping and getting a little colostrum for them and they are supplementing with donor milk. They think the boys will stay until 36 weeks but it just depends on them. I am so sad at the idea to leave without them but know it is what they need.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers they are strong enough asap to come home to us sooner than later! We are sooooo blessed that they at least stayed until 33 weeks for some significant milestones. I continue to support and think about all.of my DS sisters at all stages of their journey.

LOVE THIS Update! Surprise! This sounds kind of like KTKs delivery last week. One of her boys basically broke her water kicking her cervix and his little foot could be seen when they got to the hospital. Those crazy boys! Glad they are doing well and I hope their stay is shorter than expected. Congrats Momma!!!

Congratulations! I cried too when it heard my baby girl cry after they took her out. So glad everyone is doing well!

What a grand and exciting entrance!! You will have a fun birth story to tell your boys now:0) *HUG!! Congrats friend. I am thankful that all is well on your end of things. I also had to leave my baby in the NICU for two weeks. I called the all the staff my NICU angels. They did such an excellent job taking care of things and watching over our little one when we couldn\'t be there. I am praying for a quick recovery for you and your body and that your darling little boys pass everything with flying colors and get to come home with you asap! *HUG!!
Congrats ! Glad they made it safely even if they have to stay in the hospital for a little while. They sure are big boys !

Congrats!!! So glad they are here safe and sound! My girls have been in the NICU 37 days. It is hard leaving them but I tell myself every day is a day closer to them coming home. 33 weeks is a great gestation. Every baby is different and I hope they have forward progress quickly. At 33 weeks, eating and remembering to breathe is very tough. You will feel like you are in med school by the time they come home! LOL
Thank you everyone! The boys have been progressing so well. Cpap is gone, IVs removed, feeding tubes taken out today, etc! My milk came in and the lactation consultant said I could feed an orphanage. This made me so happy they are not concerned about me being able to feed twins. Every day I am able to handle them more and building a bond. I still don\'t feel like their mommy, just like I am visiting a friend with her babies (maybe since that\'s how it always been). I am so excited and also scared to bring them home. DH and i still say, I can\'t believe they are here and that this is real. They really are so cute and I look forward to learning about their little personalities. Thank you for all of the well wishes, it is definitely helping! :)
So, I am late to the game, but I am soooo happy for you. I love their names, btw. How are you? How are they? Our daughter was born in November. I can\'t believe it some days...our daughter. Your boys. How exciting!
Thank you! Yes I still have to remind myself they are ours. They are so handsome, smiling and laughing all the time. It is really hard to believe they are 6 1/2 months old now... There are tough times of course but I have crazy bad baby fever already! Congrats on your daughter! :)
