Hunter
Hello SOTH - It has been a couple of weeks that I have really spent any time on FMO with you all and I'm sorry for that.....I'll explain.2 weeks ago I received a call from Karen (Hunter's caregiver) and she said this, " this just isn't working out with Hunter. He has done absolutely nothing wrong, but I'm so busy and John (her husband)isn't home during the week because of his job location. (nothing new)" She gave me 5 days to make a decision or she would call SOCIAL SERVICES....wtf? Every week, asking her how's it going? her response would be good, great.....so obvisouly that wasn't what she was struggling with so rather than "beat her up" for coming to this decision - I had a decision to make or arrangements made for Hunter, rather quickly....SOCIAL SERVICES was not an option....really? Now Karen has said she was over reacting and wouldn't have called social services...whatever......So, I contacted an extended family that Hunter and Jennifer considered to be family, realizing it was going to take a village to raise him (he is 14, 15 in December). They kept putting off Legal Guardianship - should have known.
This family agreed to have Hunter live with them, finish his 3 years of high school. They love my daughter and they love Hunter. Now I could sell where I live (retirement community) and have Hunter with me, however because this family has a 15 and a 20 year old that Hunter has grown up with, I really believe that Hunter will be happier living with them....I am in the process of obtaining legal guardianship, though so the control I will have when it comes to "big decisions"....He will be on my insurance, etc. He will be 30 min away......
I am giving you the shortened version without my emotions.....because they have been ugly..I am waiting on the paralegal this week to finish paperwork so I can file with courts and then attend a temporary guardianship....Just pray that his father won't be found. Hunter's dad has been in and out of prision, not in Hunter's life since 2 years old....All I need is to have him show up.....Hunter is 14 so that would help. So I'm standing in faith that this guardianship will happen without a hitch.. Your prayers appreciated!!
This family happened to be going to Chico (on the way where Hunter lived) so they stopped by last week to approach Hunter if he would be happier living down here which is home. Hunter immediately said yes, that would be great and I would be close to "yahya"....so Hunter came down on Sat. - met him when he arrived and had dinner with Hunter's "new family" - great evening and Hunter laughed and seemed relaxed. So I believe God is in control - the plan is unfolding - I'm just trying to go along with that plan. I'm sure there will be more to this story - will let you all know when the hearing is.....((hugs)) Vicki

Now I get it...these were the people your poor daughter thought would be stand up...Hunter will be so much happier now. He will know that he is wanted..30 minutes is nothing...I will pray for his easy emotional transition..love you, Lauri
You have my prayers and gentle hugs for your heart...
I\'m glad Hunter will closer to you. Praying everything goes well. Hugs, Paula
It\'s all working out and for that I\'m SO grateful. Feeling Jennifer\'s hand in it and what fun you\'ll have being able to hang together with more ease and not 300 miles between you.
Savor your last days of summer vacation before you are in the thick of things at school and my love and prayers are with you and dear Hunter that this is a smooth transition for all involved.
Lots of love and much HOPE!
XO Joanie
