How you feel hasn't mattered in a very long time.

I'm always in pain. Sometimes it's a very low level I can "ignore". Some days it's agony. There are times other people can do what needs done, and I can relax. But other times not. And that's just the way it is. Even if I'm wishing for an out of body experience just to get away from it for a little awhile, life is going on. Things need done. Other people have needs of their own and it's often my job to make sure they get taken care of. It's part of being a wife and mom and just part of life in general. How I feel doesn't matter. I imagine that anyone living with chronic pain has to come to this realization at some point. And it sucks. It sucks to have to choose between dealing with your pain and someone else's needs over and over. No matter how much you tell yourself it's just the way it is. No matter how many pity parties you have, then suck it up and move on. It still just sucks.
We are told not to be selfish, to put other's needs first. Sometimes we manage to take time for ourselves, and that just has to be enough.
