How to make Almond Milk
Do you guys know how to make almond milk? I just learned and it's really quite easy and tastes quite good. Here's how to make it.
Get one cup of raw, unsalted, almonds and rinse them off and put them in a bowl. Cover them with cold tap water (or filtered water) and put them in the fridge overnight. Next day, drain the water and rinse off the almonds. Put them in a high speed blender or food processor with a cup of filtered water. (I just use cold tap water). and then blend for a minute or two. Then add another cup of water and blend. Then one more cup of water and blend. You can add one more cup of water but I just do three. You blend until you get this white frothy mixture. It only takes a few minutes.
Then get a nut bag or a fine mesh strainer and pour the liquid through that and into an airtight container and store in the fridge for 2 to three days.
Before you start blending, you can also add a pinch of salt and one or two dates or a little maple syrup for sweetness.
After you drain the liquid you will be left with almond pulp which can also be used in a variety of ways, like in baking or cereal or whatever. I won't go into that here but it is useful too. Or you can just throw it out.
I use the almond milk in coffee or in baking, like in making pancakes or cookies or whatever. You can put it in your cereal in place of regular milk or just drink it from a cup. It is quite good and it's really pretty easy to make. I think it's cheaper to make it at home than buy it in the store and it doesn't have all the preservatives of course.

Hi Lilmissy, Thanks for writing. I've never had cashew milk. That sounds yummy! I'll have to try it, too. Yes, I like the almond milk in coffee. Doing ok. Hope you are too!
Anna, good to here you are doing ok. I never had any milk besides cow milk.
I always wonder what almond milk tastes like.
Hi Tired, thank you. Almond milk is actually quite good. I think it tastes better homemade. It has kind of a fresh, light, mildly sweet and almond taste. It's really good in baking and I like it in coffee with a little bit of sweetener and I've even just drunk it plain from the cup. Ha. I sound like an add for almond milk. Hope you're well.
