How to Find a Real and Good Manufacturer in China

In order to visit the factories in China that make your products efficient and fruitful, you need to have deep understanding of the exact processes that the factory in China is using to manufacture your products when you visit them.

The reason the visit is important is that many factories outsource some of China manufacturers processes to other smaller factories nearby. Unless you are familiar with all the processes your factory goes through to produce your products when you visit them, you may not be able to discern whether they are outsourcing part of the processes to other smaller factories in China.

The reason outsourcing may not be good for you is that it cannot guarantee the quality standards of the smallest factory. Furthermore, your contract would only specify the quality standards for operations at the factory with which you are dealing directly. When they outsource some of the work to other smaller factories in China, the quality standards of those factories cannot be controlled through their contract. Therefore, the quality of its products cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, process outsourcing by the factory with which you are in direct contact should be avoided or minimized entirely at best to maintain quality as much as possible.

Unless you personally visit the factory and look for signs of outsourcing, you may not be able to find out if your factory is outsourcing some of its production processes to other smaller factories in China. There are many reasons why they might outsource their work.

• They could save money since the smallest factory could accept lower prices


• They may temporarily face a shortage of production capacity due to various reasons


• If the other factories in China are run by a friend or relative, they may want to do you a favor by giving them business


• They may want to cover up labor rights violations


• They may not have certain equipment for spray painting or injection molding and therefore would have to outsource those production processes

While outsourcing itself is not a problem, the real problem arises when the quality standards of the smallest factory are much lower than the main factory where its products are manufactured. As more players enter the production process, maintaining quality standards can become a difficult task. When you visit factories in China, you need to know tactfully if other smaller factories in China are involved in manufacturing your products and need to know how to eliminate the practice or at least ensure that quality standards are maintained to your specifications.

Hire a translator and interpreter. If you don't speak Chinese, find someone who can. However, don't trust anyone who says they learned it in school or lived in a Chinese-speaking country for a couple of years. The above principle applies to find a translator and interpreter.

Take a class
