How old is OLD ?
A Friend of mine back in Philadelphia had THIS to offer about old age:
When you're 50, you're middle-aged.
When you're 60, you're a senior citizen.
When you're 70, you're JUST PLAIN OLD.
Assuming that's true, I have just one year to go before I hit "just plain old". I will be 69 on December 19.
Turning 60 wasn't bad at all. I still had a certain amount of beauty left and was aging gracefully. I felt "mature" and "seasoned". I still felt sexy.
There was a difficult-to-describe sensation of "yielding" to old age. It was almost voluptuous, a mellow giving in and giving up.
But as I moved into my 60's, I could actually see a difference with each passing year. By 65, I wished I could afford to have a little "work done". LOL And since 65, each year took a toll on my physical strength.
This year preparing about 60 Christmas cards was exhausting. Never remember it being such an arduous CHORE before! I love cards and it means a lot to me to send them--but boy was I tired!
That being said, how do other people feel about aging?

Wow I did my cards today and I only had 21 so sad in my addy book lot of deceased (30).......as we age our friends really dwindle........Oh well football time
My cards are done...I am only send out a few. Sad but it seems with social media greeting cards are becoming a thing of the past.
As for my feelings on aging...some days I feel OK with it...some days depressed.
turning 56 stinks for me. Was only a couple years ago I noticed my eyes were worse, at least for reading books. And, I try to eat healthier, though have lapsed in that lately; can only eat so many tomatos, salads, and no meat.
Be glad you can send off so many Christmas cards; at the most i\'ll be sending TWO; maybe even just one, with the one to somebody 10 miles away and the other to somebody maybe 70 miles away.
Actually, living in an apt. bldg. exposes me to a lot of people. Not close friends, but nice acquaintances. I also have experienced the death of many friends and relatives.
You are as old as you let yourself feel. You are still a youngin!!! Hugs GB
I don\'t do Xmas cards - I am Jewish. I don\'t do Season\'s Greetings cards anymore as I ran out of friends with each additional crisis I had to face - my parent\'s death, my sister\'s vicious behavior over their estate, 9/ll (I was in it),
my divorce - ya da ya da - I turn 68, and several people I know have said that there is nothing left to do but get old and die - yet I wish that on all those that I have left behind (or who have left me) and all those who have hurt me. If I had experienced their loss in their actual death I might feel differently. You are only as old as you feel - yet at 68 (to be) you feel it. It is sad and depressing, but the challenge is in surviving all the negative idiots who cross your path and creating your (oh G - do I sound like Oprah? She has way more money than I do) your best life. It\'s a challenge, but what are the alternatives. Sex? The only man who I find attractive now, is married - what does that say. Oh, that life sucks - deal with it.
Well I am 65 and I feel OLD since I was so sick earlier this year. The first few days after Christmas of 2013 were the last days I remember feeling good.
I was horribly sick with cold after cold after the first of the year and went into bronchitis. I really did not begin to regain any strength at all until mid May
Been working hard trying to get back to feeling well again but it has been a terrible struggle.
So I guess it is just different for everybody. Truth be told I NEVER expected to feel this decrepit at 65!
I hear you! You never expected to feel this decrepit at 65. They say \"old age\" is always 10 years older than you are! Nobody wants to look or feel old. But take heart from this:
EVERY TIME I\'M A YEAR OLDER, SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE!
they claim age 53 is the perfect age, as long as you have your health.
i think our culture puts too much emphasis on looks and sex and there are zillions of other things out there. the main thing is health. after that, nothing else matters very much.
in florida you are a senior at 40 in some places and 55 in other places.
At almost 58, each time I look in the mirror I see my Dad looking back.
I have a love/hate relationship with aging. I hate the changes in my body. I have to work twice as hard to look 1/2 as good, LOL! I do like the comfortable old shoe feeling, being settled, having my house and money in the bank, etc. There is a huge satisfaction on that and being much more relaxed and financially stable. But I do hate the overwhelming feeling of \"life is short\". I have my moments where I feel like I am running out of time. That\'s kind of scary.
If you carry your inner child within you, you will never be old. I will turn 68 years on the 28th and I am still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up, plus I earned each and every wrinkle and gray hair and wear them proudly. Plus senior discounts are great ROFLMAO
health is the most important thing.
I agree with you. It seems after 60 things start to change.
Wonder what the next B.D. will bring.
