How I Miss You

Our 32nd wedding anniversary is this week.  I want so much for you to be here to celebrate it with, for I know how proud you were to tell people how long we had been wed.  You are the only man I have ever known who was more into his wedding than his bride, and bragged about it until the day he passed.  One more reason why I fell in love with you.  One more reason I know that partners like you are a rare gem in this world.
Instead, I make a beautiful arrangements of white and blue flowers, and drive to our final home to place it in front of our stone.  So hard to imagine I have lived 14 months without you.  So hard to imagine that you, the most handsome, loving, devoted human being, is now nothing more than a box of ashes.
I feel your presence surround me daily, and wouldn't know what to do without it.  I know you see the things I do, join me on my excursions, hear my words as they leave my mouth.
I am so very proud to be your wife, so very lucky to have spent the last 30 something years with you.  So blessed that you have lived up to the words on my pendant, "I will always be at your side."
People that I come in contact with just can't understand why I want to live on my own without a single care or problem in the world.  They wonder why I want to "waste my life" and wait for you.  It's their problem, not mine.  I am happy and content with the life I had to create for myself, and more happy knowing that when my day comes, you will run back to get me, arms wide open, tears flowing.  We have a lot of catching up to do, especially dancing through the clouds of heaven.
I love you so much, my heart just breaks.  I am forever yours, as you are mine.
Eternally, your wife Debbie
