How fast a day can turn on you

Well, today started out great.  Beautiful weather, and I was looking forward to Miles' cross country meet.  Then I get a call from the middle school.  Miles passed out in  health class, and hit his head.  He seems fine, but Melissa's mom has him, and is taking him to his doctor to make sure he checks out OK.  I'm worried about other kids in school giving him crap about that when he gets back tomorrow.  We'll have cross that bridge when we get to it, I guess.
On top of that, Mason called to tell me that he had been fired from his job at the grocery store in town.  This is one of those stores where if you have their card you get "extra" savings.  Well, a newer employee did not have her card with her, so Mason let her use his.  They told him that this was stealing.  I'm not seeing it that way.  If he was using his card on a regular customer, yeah I see that.  But this was another employee he thought he was helping, and she was entitled to the same discount.  She just forgot her card.  I don't know what happened to her.  I think she was just as culpable in this situation, for accepting Mason's offer of help.  I want to chew on the managers rear about this, but I'm not sure it would help, or change anything.  I'm thinking there had to be a better way of handling this.  This shoots my concentration for the whole day.  :(
