Despite the huge 50+ population in North America, western culture holds to an antiquated reverence for youth. Yes, it's ironic to call celebrating youth "antiquated," but it is an apt description. This attitude simply gives menopause a bad name.
Kim, my practitioner, performed a little five minute consult in which she took my pulse, inspected my tongue, and was horrified to learn about all the raw veggies I'd been consuming. Those traditional Chinese medicine people...they LOVE their cooked food! She brought up some interesting points about my raw diet being responsible for my sluggish spleen, so I decided to let her poke my digestive system into order. I also dubiously agreed to eat more cooked food.
We've all had times when we're like this, but there is a way out of the madness. The next time you catch yourself worrying or regretting something, become present. You can do this by becoming intensely aware of your surroundings or by paying attention to small things like your breathing or walking. It's almost like Meditation techniques. The more you do this the more you will be at peace and happy with life.
As Karen Murphy wrote, simply looking at everything as choice - no matter how demanding it seems - brings us back to ourselves. It is fairly easy to think of the world as being a dark threatening place filled with cold demands, which is the world of slavery - in this world we have no choice but to react. Bringing choice into it shows how responsive the world can be to our creative powers.
The problem is not with the world. The problem, if there is one, is with your recognition of yourself and your world. The way you perceive and interpret yourself and your world is a system. Change that system, through seeking new truths, and you change your world. This is The Way of the Business Warrior.
Meditation is actually just the art of focusing 100% of your attention in one area. Although it does take some practice, just like everything else in life, Meditation Techniques it couldn't be easier to begin, and once a beginning is made, it becomes easier each time we practice.
