How can I?

My dog has been going downhill.  Her seizures are getting more frequent and her medication is helping her less and less.  I know I am going to lose her eventually and it will be difficult because I am home alone most of the day and the isolation is very depressing.  I seldom go anywhere because money is tight.
The red cross called me up repeatedly yesterday to donate blood.  I always gave and they like me.  I am a universal donar and I always give two pints whole. They call it the double red where they take two pints out, put the plasma back in and keep the red blood cells.  That is like gold to them.  Not many people are qualified to give that but I am and so they always call when there is a shortage.  I told them I would love to if you can find me a ride.  It's 30 miles round trip to the nearest location.  Apparently they couldn't find me a ride because they stopped calling. Ahh well. I hate to say that my days of giving are over, that is, unless things change dramatically financially!
I had always been the one to give.  I always gave money to kids or people collecting for whatever cause.  I never turned anyone down.  I always dropped money in the Salvation Army bucket at Christmas.  I always helped those less fortunate then myself.  Now I am less fortunate but no, I take that back!  I am fortunate to have my friends here at ds that will listen to me vent and sympathise with me.
There is always a positive with every negative.
God Bless and TC!

Sorry to hear about your dog. Mine is in kind of the same place (no seizures, just getting old), and I wonder how I will deal when he\'s finally gone. He had some problems getting up and walking this morning, but seems a bit better now. He\'s not a particularly loveable guy, and was an anti-social rescue. But he\'s been with me through a lot, and has listened to me without complaint. :-)

I can relate to your always having been the one to give. That\'s been me in the past, but not so much now because of (as you note) economic circumstances. Still, I consider myself fortunate - I\'m basically healthy, have an interesting social network, and have folks who will listen to me vent both in the real world and here on DS. So yeah, I\'d also prefer to look at the positive side of things.

It wasn\'t always so.

My dear friend.....I am so sorry that you are going through all that you are going through.

Yes there is always a positive with a negative.....but for me lately....the negatives have outweighed the positives.

Per our conversation yesterday.....let go and let god. Let your higher power take over. I have heard that by doing so amazing things can take place. One can only hope.

Hang in there my friend.....I am not always able to chat but you know how to find me.

I too have been in the exact situation when it came to my pets & financial problems & isolation. I totally sympathize with you. I\'m sorry that I have not been on DS as much as I would like because of health problems both mental & physically, but for you, MY BEST FRIEND & MENTOR, I\'ll do anything for you & I\'m definetly here for you! HUGS!!!!
