House Fire 2

Ok, so we're running the Reddy Heater in the front door to the house, again treating for bed bugs (I swear to god I hate hate hate these creatures!) I walk away from the door and go to my daughters room to see if she is still watching the Walking Dead marathon. I hear two short, beep beep...beep beep smell smoke, walk back into the living room and see our whole front door is engulfed in roaring flames. So I ran and grabbed my kids and my mother in law and start chunking them out the window, I follow and grab the garden hose and start playing "firefighter" hosing down the front entrance. Luckily I got it out before the real fire fighters got there, so they didn't have to do but so much.
Sadly, our two parakeets died due to the smoke. Now my ankle is messed up pretty good, although I'm glad it's JUST that, everything is covered in soot and smoke.
The Fire Chief told me I did almost all the work for them, and asked me if I wanted an application. XD
I told him "If I thought for one second I could physically keep up with you guys, I'd pounce, but we'd get a call, and I'd still be trying to figure out how to get the boots on and you guys would be 10 miles down the road." lol But seriously, if it won't for the HS, even with the Fibro and AS, I would have asked..where's the application. LOL
I had to break down our back door to get to our dog, so now my mother in law needs a new front door AND back door, but I was getting my dog out.
Husband and father in law had gone to the store when this all happened, and when they got back, the fire fighters had to latch onto my husband, cause he thought we were still inside. Hell no'es..I started chunking folks out the window, to hell with the fact it was 6 feet in the air, better a broke leg or arm than burnt ones.
NOW..if I can just get people to quit telling me how I "saved the day" or how I did such an "outstanding job". It's making me uncomfortable, cause I was just doing what I was supposed to dammit!
Right now, typing this from a Hotel computer, Comfort Inn in Apex NC, not a bad spot, but certainly not home. Gonna suck though not having instant acess to my DS though, but the insurance people come out today, so hopefully they can get repairs on the way rather quickly. Another blessing, the kids are still tracked out, so I didn't have to worry about school for them today.
I just wish I could get the image of the front door roaring and burning out of my head, I think I have slept maybe an hour if that. This is kicking my PTSD into manic drive BIG TIME. I know it will eventually fade, but it will take time. Don't help none that fire has changed my life twice before this, and not in good ways.
God grant me the strength to be my families strength, I seem to be holding up better than the rest of them, and don't let them turn to infighting. We need to pull together more now than ever.
Gals and guys, keep me and mine in your prayers, we need them more now than ever. <3

Glad that u guys are okay and that u managed to get the dog out too! Thanks goodness for your fast reacting, not everyone would have reacted like that. I know the Red Cross sometimes gives out hotel vouchers for this kind of thing, might be something to consider. Don\'t envy the clean-up project that will be coming for you! Hang in there! Prayers going your way!
