Hours and Days

I've been thinking about my work schedule.  It's pretty good right now.  Five, eight hour days in a row and all the same times.  But, it will change.  It has to.  One of our people in our department is working in another department temporairily.  He'll be back.  When he does come back, my schedule will change,,,again.  In the passed year, I estimate my schedule has changed, probably 10 times.  Three times in the last four weeks.  It's affecting my life outside of my work as expected, but it's getting worse.  There are times when I don't know what day it is, much less the date.  And sometimes, when I get up from sleep, I don't know if it's morning or night.  I seem to be in a state of confusion a good part of the time.  Paying my monthly bills is an adventure.  Rent is easy if I notice the date early enough.  But the rest of the bills,,,gas, electric, water, cable, phone insurance come in at different times of the month and sometimes get lost in the shuffle.  More than once I've missed a bill and gotten notice.  I really don't know how to change the situation.  We're short-handed.  I'm too old to look for another job and no-one wants to hire someone with my health problems.  I can't figure out how to get my head on straight.  I've got to or I'm lost.

I bought myself an inexpensive hanging folder system that sits beside my computer. I have one folder labeled \"to be paid\" and another \"paid\" and when i get a bill, i use a highlighter and highlight the date that the bill is due so i can read it at a glance, and then drop it into the \"to be paid\" folder. When i pay my bills, i have a date stamp that i stamp on it and write down on the bill how much i paid and the reference number (i pay all my bills online) and drop it into the \"paid\" folder. When a new month starts, i take the paid bills and file them in my file cabinet. Done! Maybe this will give you an idea how to organize yourself a little better and you won\'t lose those important bills. Lots of hugs and kisses, mike. We\'re all getting older and forgetful. Deb :0)
