Horrible timing

So, today, a very good friend of mine informed me that he has had feelings for me for over 8 years. While I can't be upset with him for being honest with me I am upset with him because 1) he has a girlfriend and 2) I just lost Bryan 3 months ago and he knows this. I'm incredibly confused at what his angle was for telling me especially with having a girlfriend. I really don't understand people sometimes and this is someone who I've always looked at as just a friend. It made me feel weird and awkward and I really hope it doesn't change our relationship but I fear it will. I don't know how to feel or what to do....I want to remain friends but now it feels more complicated. My stomach hurts just thinking about it. He knows that I'm grieving and he still felt the need to open up about his feelings and it just made him look foolish to me because he has a girlfriend. Perhaps the girlfriend doesn't mean much to him but that's definitely not the way to handle it. I don't know anymore. I just don't know...

He is telling you this when you are extremely vulnerable. He is also being extremely disrespectful to the woman he is in a relationship with. A \"good\" friend would not add to your current emotional overload. I would keep my distance.

I would avoid him in the future and if he questions you I would be honest and tell him that you are currently grieving the loss of the person you loved. Sharon

I just told him, tonight, that I wanted to stop talking to him for awhile. He was completely understanding about it. He\'s always been respectful towards me, over all the years I\'ve known him, so I am grateful for that. That\'s why this really threw me for a loop. At least he understands and agrees that it\'s for the best. That eases my mind a bit that maybe one day we can rekindle our friendship.

Smart move. The last thing you need right now is more confusion and emotional upheaval. Take care.
