Horrible Sigmoidoscopy

The Sigmoidoscopy was horrible! It was very narrow where my surgeon attached the two pieces of colon together. A medical student came in because she had never done the balloon stretching procedure before. A balloon with saline was slowly filled, the deflated and filled again. My surgeon kept on saying to make the balloon bigger! The cramping from the stretching was so bad that I was gripping the rails of the stretcher and my surgeon asked me if I was ok. I just said the cramping was really bad. It took them a while to stretch it and they didn't even really stretch it that much. He tool the sigmoidoscope out, to take the balloon out or the scope was pushed out. He went back in found a small polyp, used a snare(lasso type thing) and yanked the polyp off and took it out. He had to cauterize to stop the bleeding from where he took the polyp. My surgeon didn't seem to be concerned about the polyp but it's being sent to pathology. It will take a month for the results to be back. I'm still having lots of cramping and some bleeding. I'm concerned about the polyp because it wasn't there before.

Oh my gosh! That sounds like an awful procedure! I tensed up just reading it. I\'m sorry you had to go through that. And I can imagine how scary it was to have them find a polyp that wasn\'t there before with all you\'ve gone through! And more waiting on test results. :( A month is a long time. I\'m glad they found it though and removed it. Well my friend, sending lots of love, light and comforting hugs. I hope the cramping eases, bleeding stops and you are able to get some good rest.

Still having a little cramping, lots of bloating but no bleeding. I was told there might be blood in my first bowel movement. I should sleep well tonight. Yes, waiting on test results is really hard! Love your yoga dog avatar loveandlighttoyou!

if the dr wasnt\' concerned about the polyp, then you try not to be either ;0 if it turns out to be anything icky-you can kick the dr and remind him what he said

I\'ll try not to be concerned. Having cramping and pain today.
