Hopeful

Cautiously optimistic today as we look forward to Lupe coming over for her first day of work... well, it's just four hours (she has a full-time job at a nursing home) but it should give us a break. Then tomorrow she'll come back to do housekeeping for me. About noontime we'll take Mother out to Baptist Retirement again for our 5 night respite time. Can't wait!!! How luxurious to sleep in (if I can - ha!) and go play golf and take doggie out for a walk together. Mother took the news better than I expected... not upset or anything so that's good. We'll be able to go visit her so she won't think we've just dumped her off.
She recovered from the drug overdose - altho' nurse said she didn't think that was the problem - but I'm sure it was. We'll see how late she sleeps today. I sense her stirring in there already here at 8:15. She didn't want to take the shower yesterday - so Veronica called me in to "persuade" her, which I gently did. She sure hates having someone undress her and bath her, but no way she can do it herself.
So onward!! And keep that powder dry...

My \'persuasion\" was mostly just making it clear that there was no choice. At one point, she said to me, \"Penny, why are you doing this to me?\" Dang.

My mom says \"what are you doing to me\". She is always cautious like I have something up my sleeve. I am onto another journal post for today.

Ha ha! You could have said, \"because you stink mom. No get in there and lets get it over with!\"

My Mom still bathes herself most of the time, but before we got the \"shit storms\" under control I had to help her a few times. The first time she was totally mortified but it got easier every time.

Nurse just trying to CYA I suppose. That was a pretty big dose!

Excited for you getting some respite care. I want some TOOOOOOOOO!

Hope things work out well with Lupe.

I am picturing you and Layne out on the links with a nice drinkie poo and meal at the club house after.

Rich and I have an overnight in Estes Park planned on the 17th and a Bronco game the Thursday after. My Dad is ailing though so hope we don\'t have to cancel.

You crack me up, Trojan!!! Thanks! Lupe seems to be just great. Mother wasn\'t happy going to respite today... but later I got a call from the nurse saying Mother had said not to call me re an incident in which she said to an aid: I\'m just gonna commit Hari Kari\"... and the danged aid took it seriously. Reported to nurse, people came to check on her, Mother emphasized she was joking (there\'s that weird sense of humor again!) and was concerned they would call me and said we needed the time to ourselves... so maybe she \"gets it.\" We\'ll go visit tomorrow. Tonight... a couple of gin and tonics and now dinner out TOGETHER at a close-by restaurant. Ahhhhhhhh........

LMFAO! I would say limit the calls and visits and just enjoy your time off. let the pros handle what you are paying for. The more I contact the ppl where dad is living the more it stirs things up and they think they have to do something to make themselves look good

Yeah, well... it didn\'t work. She couldn\'t get anyone to come help her to the potty and so wet on herself - and somehow her clothes. (I don\'t get that because she rarely does that here at home since the briefs are SO absorbent. AND nurses say she didn\'t use the call button... she says she did. God!!!) Lupe went to ck on her and called me... so we ended up bringing her home. I\'m bummmmmed!!!!!!! I really was so looking forward to some time OFF. But Lupe is coming again tomorrow.p.m... so we can keep an appt with a funeral home. Good grief. What a total f*cked up situation.

Ok. This TOTALLY puzzles me. The respite care should have been able to handle this. That is what they are there for. Your mom is manipulating you again and you are taking it again. You make your bed you lie in it. She pees herself to get even. REALLY? What kind of respite place with nurses can\'t handle a little pee accident? That\'s why the drugs are helpful.

You\'re out of line, Trojan. You\'re a bit too quick to judge and make accusations when you don\'t have all the facts nor do you know the people. Sorry but I just have to push back on this one. My mother is not the manipulative type nor am I a wuss that\'s easily manipulated. Hospice failed on this one in a number of ways. We\'ll get it worked out yet.
