Hope Springs Eternal (I HOPE)

It's springtime, again. This will be my fortieth spring season, hard as it may be for myself to believe! But in many ways, it feels like my first. And in a manner of writing that reflects my love for Stephen King (hence the cribbed heading of this entry, constant reader), I shall explain:
It's my first spring without schizophrenia symptoms. Or, to be more precise, 2014 is the first springtime I get to experience for what it is, without perceiving it through a sick and murky mind's eye. Many details were obscured before, and only now am I able to fully appreciate the demise of a rather harsh, frigid winter (again, my first without symptoms). There seems to be a feeling of newness in the air, a breath of fresh starts, a whiff of promise on the exhalations of the magnolias. Not quite as trippy as I remember the last thirty nine vernal changes, but refreshingly invigorating, nonetheless.
I'm aspiring towards a new peak, so it would seem, the ink still not dry on my signature to a new lease on life. My God-sent midwinter's love appears to be blossoming into a thing of true beauty, possibilities unfolding as the petals on a rose. The ocean of paranoia which threatened to drown me a thousand times before has dwindled to a puddle, now. I can laugh off a sock that soaks through, consequently.
I give thanks for my meds. I an ever so grateful for the support of family and friends, including those here at Daily Strength. I can't say enough thank-yous to Stephanie, for reintroducing me to happiness that comes by someone with whom you share your life with. And everyday, I thank the Almighty for allowing me to wake up and take a breath.
Getting better...
