hope I\'m not making a mistake

A women I work with,(I'm her boss) husband is a plumber and remodeler. I have hired him to do my bathroom over. I am having it totally gutted and am already a nervous wreck that I am spending more $ than I can afford. I have the $ but am always one to try to be prepared for the what ifs. Now with Bruces income not here and he was the $ maker I'm afraid if I use the $ I have then thats when my furnace will go. Well to make matters worse her husband was suppose to be here today at noon to put in a new kitchen faucet and called at 12:20 TO SAY he wasnt coming. He had an emergency job come up. He could be totally honest and telling me the truth but I'm so afraid This is a sign of things to come. I hope I didnt make a mistake hiring a co-workers husband. It's not like I know a ton of contractors. I dont know any. I went to the garden to ask Bruce for his advice but I'm still waiting for his answer.haha

I know how hard it is. I was able to thankfully rely on contractors that we had used in the past. Really be careful out there. Also, I do hope that if it doesn\'t turn out as you wanted that your relationship with your co-worker. It can get sticky.. If your bathroom is not in dire need of repairs I think I would wait. With the economy the way it is, one never knows from one day to the next. I keep asking Jim\'s advice also, and he hasn\'t gotten back to me. There are so many situations here that no one can figure out, they were JIm\'s inventions. It is sooooo frustrating. Whatever you decide I wish you the best, but be careful my friend. Love, Alice

I hope you don\'t have problems getting him to show up and do the work. I would ask him if you are going to be put off every time something comes up. Steve left our bathroom half done but now I have to wait till I can afford to finish it. It is usable, but half is new and half is old. Big Hugs to you, Carolyn

I think I made some of the worse choices in my life since Rodger died.I thought about it and said (oh what the heck, it is just money) when I run out God will supply a way!! I think if he doesn\'t finish the job call around and get someone else. Never ever pay someone till the job is finished...If you have done that..tell him finish the job or you\'ll take him to small claims court..That should get him jumping!!LOL! Hang in there it will all be alright!!!!

Hi honey, have you signed a contract with your co-workers husband yet? If not - you could call around -
and get a few estimates - contractors love to give estimates. If his price is higher - you could just tell them, you\'ve reconsidered - your project and go with the best price - but most good contractors will have pics of previous jobs - to show you the results - also - if you do change your mind - that\'s your option - and if you do hire a different contractor - will your co-worker or husband be in your home to see your new bathroom.

Sometimes you just have to go with your own intuition and first instincts - a remodeling project - has a lot of aspects to it - and you want a fair price - craftmanship - and a timely completed job - to lessen your stress - Let me know how you make out - love & hugs

You are under more stress finacially, and it makes sense to me you would worry about doing the right thing. I wait on answers from my boys sometimes, but I don\'t ever get one. All I feel is alone. I guess everyone does not get signs and answers. I only get more questions! That is just me thoug. Good luck. You just do the best you can and follow your first instinct, you will do fine. I believe in you. Love, and prayers Peggy
