Hope

Well nervous doesn't really cover it.

Yesterday I had a phone call to say I've been invited for interview on Thursday for a 12 hour a week job in Superdrug Redruth.

Could it be more perfect??? A 10 minute walk away, my favourite store to shop in, the staff know me and are really great people and I know most of their products inside out. It's within my permitted working hours of 15 and wouldn't be full days which I can manage much easier.

Of all the jobs I've ever had working in the Bodyshop was my favourite, selling products I believe in and used so this would be even better!!

But then last night the doubt crept in....the internal voices that accompany me everwhere.

 "You are awkward around people"

" What it you have a panic attack? "

"You couldn't cope with a big queue, you'd go bright red and start faltering"

" In winter with everyone having coughs and colds you'll be constantly sick and let them down "

"You'll never hear customers, your heading aids pick up background noise"

"You'll have to use your glasses constantly....what it you forget them??"

"You forget things all the time....you'll look so stupid"

" Your back will constantly hurt being on you feet and your fibromyalgia won't like it"

" you'll put yourself in a flare and be know good to anyone"

And on and on and on and on. But I'm going to give it my all. I'm patient, kind, positive, caring, understanding and a great listener. I'm quirky, fun, great sense of humour and have vast product knowledge. I've got great vision and imagination and can forward think and do a few things at a time. I'm quick, efficient and can concentrate when needed.

So I'm going to take the plunge, I'm me....not my  illnesses and it's time to shine

Good for you seeing the positives in the situation, being forward thinking you will solve the problems before they start and you have fantastic product knowledge.
I also work in retail and if I went with all the negative stuff about my conditions I would never leave the house. I do 14 hours a week in 4 and 1/2 hour shifts which is just right before I get tired.
You can do this, the benefits of going out and meeting people far out weigh the other stuff. Helping people find what they want and need is mega rewarding.

They’ve frozen me in many occasions
You’ll surprise yourself.
