Honey Barn

The progress in the conversion of the long neglected antique dairy barn has felt like my saving grace during this confusing week of father/child bond repair. The new doors and windows have increased the comfort level considerably. The resident wild life that are still resisting my eviction notices have been less vocal in their arguments. Perhaps only because the recent freezes served as an organic pest control. The acoustics in the extraction room are dynamite. Hubby's hand-cranked beginner's honey extractor now sits in a corner of the proposed extraction room. It looks allot smaller in there than it did in the over-furnished Urban Homestead. The round wood table which has been serving as a work bench is now clean enough that even a high-stepping office worker might feel safe sharing a cup of libation there. Maybe. Not all high-steppers believe stains can be sanitary. Washing out the comparatively clean construction dust has been a great channel for my confused energies. Given what I started with, that construction dust feels downright sanitary. For sure, fresh crud is far easier to clean than the accumulated layers of stored neglect.

Our week of protective custody is nearly over. Hubby has business at the corporate office on Monday, so he will take charge of returning the children over to protective custody of the other grandparents. Prayers in progress that the step can be accomplished with hugs and smiles for all. Just praying.

Has healing happened during Daddy's supervised visit? My hopeful and hopefully not delusional sign of healing is that late yesterday morning both children consented to letting Daddy out of their sight while he and Gampy went into town for provisions. The Grand Time was peaceful and the smiles were sincere while the children ran to see what Daddy had brought them. They approved. While Gampy, Daddy and little sister napped, GS and I slipped away for another turkey hunt on Buffalo Creek. I am grateful that we got to enjoy a few hours of Grand Time while they were here.

I slept reasonably well last night but awoke anxious an unable to fall back into sleep somewhere in the wee hours. Girl howdy, my gut hurts. As my recent usual wake up time approaches, I am preparing to make my third cup of coffee and head out to. . .

I'll bet ya dollars to wishes you already guessed where I am heading.

Based on Ada R. Habershon tune:

May the circle
One day be broken
Of violence, hatred and shame
A better home could be awaitin'
If we join hands in healing prayer

The challenges monumental, so is your perseverance to find balance in an unbalanced situation. Cleaning, the "it" gift.
Thinking back to when I had to put my dear son into a homeless shelter to obtain social service housing, As he 'had' to leave a home filled with egg shells...some three years ago.

Time has a way of finding doors, opening them and healing can take place, slowly. Thinking the efforts you are making now, sadly at your expense of knots in your stomach, for your son, will be the the 'slow' and the 'steady' of your GC future wellbeing, Love is an amazing healer, as is prayer.

So far so good on the last day of the supervised Daddy visit. The 2 men and I were able to discuss plans for them to go have some man time while the GKs and I enjoyed some grand time. GO TEAM!!! The children did not even notice Daddy slipping out the back door. GD (2) noticed after a while and stayed calm when I told her, "Daddy and Gampy went in to town." GS (5) monitored the making of the grown-up conspiracy but he has yet to comment. Daddy left his cell phone so GS could do his Nintendo workout. It's connection enough for his world? Works for Mommy and Daddy, doesn't it?

May you never earn Mommy and Daddy's lovely, police issue bracelets, beloved Grandson.

May my anxiety over their return to the other grandparents tomorrow stay calm enough to make the most of our last day together.

Just praying. . .
